Derren Brown Svengali

Discussions of new films, books, television shows, and media indirectly related to magic and magicians. For example, there may be a book on mnemonics or theatrical technique we should know or at least know about.

I saw it live and watched the TV edit today.
Like some others, I thought it missed the 'Nyman Touch', and so wasn't quite as strong as his previous shows.
But - I still loved it. Let's put it like this. My daughters hate magic (my fault); they really enjoyed this show. It was a show I would recommend to anyone. And I can't think of any other magic show I'd say that of.
The filmed version was fun, with a good emphasis on audience reactions.

And, a small point, but, as a magician, I think I knew how all the Enigma stuff was done; but there were things here that I didn't catch.

I saw the opening night of the show and really didn't enjoy it that much. There were lots of mistakes, indeed the who.e thing had to be restarted at the beginning because of an AV issue

Some look forward to seeing the video to see how the show changed since I saw it, to see what parts he fixed

And yes, it really missed nyman
