Faro Shuffles--S. Brent Morris

Postby Bob Farmer » May 4th, 2004, 12:05 pm

One of the best books on the Faro is MAGIC TRICKS, CARD SHUFFLING AND DYNAMIC COMPUTER MEMORIES by Dr. S. Brent Morris.

Does anyone have an address, phone number or e-mail address for Dr. Morris? He was working for the NSA, but I believe he has retired (or that's the cover story).

The book is published by the Mathematical Association of America, and he's still out there lecturing for the ACM. So, just contact the MAA to get his details. Specifically, contact maahq@maa.org and ask them.

Bye for now

Bill, thank you. I will now ask Dr. Morris a most important question. The answer may revolutionize card magic as we know it. Stay tuned for details.

Bill, someone (I suspect the NSA) got to that address before me: S. Brent Morris is gone.

I have taken Harold's suggestion and e-mailed the MAA (but I suspect this is just another NSA front).

If I make no further posts, you'll know they probably got m--

Bob,

Here's what I have inside the cover of his book (after using my Cray to decrypt the 256-bit assymetrical blowfish encryption):

MAA Service Center
P.O. Box 91112
Washington, DC 20090-1112
800-331-1MAAA

It's a great book (keep in mind, this is coming from someone with a background in aerospace engineering and studies cryptography as a hobby!). Very fascinating concepts with the faro including a triple faro.

Good luck, keep us posted!

Scott:

You have access 256-bit assymetrical blowfish encryption!?

My God -- could I send you Simon Aronson's last book, I need to know what he's saying. It might be something about me.

As soon as I locate Dr. Morris, I will notify all.

In the meantime, there are two programs you might find interesting: Nick Pudar's STACKVIEW (www.stackview.com); and, THE VIRTUAL DECK (at Peter Duffie's site).
