He won the Gold Medal for Close-Up Magic at FISM--only the second American in the 45 year history of the event to do so. Michael performed at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, and the "It's Magic" show. He was seen by the talent scout for "The Tonight Show" in 1985, and was featured by Johnny Carson (himself a magician) on that show twice. He performed magic on "The Merv Griffin Show" ten times, and from there began to receive more recognition for his talent and appear regularly on television shows. Michael Ammar is not only a performer, speaker and teacher of magic, he is an author of many books and videos on the subject of magic. His book "The Magic of Michael Ammar" became the fastest selling book in magic history, now in it's 15th printing. Michael has written The Magic of Michael Ammar, Complete Cups & Balls, The Topit Book, Encore I, Encore II, Encore III, Brainstorm in the Bahamas, Command Performance, Success & Magic, and Magical Arts Journal (MAJ) magazine. His video credits include: Complete Cups & Balls (2 Vols.), Introduction to Coin Magic, Exciting World of Magic, Anytime, Anyplace Magic, Vernon Revelations (17 Vols.), Early Ammar (4 Vols.), Magic, Mastery & You, Icebreakers, Amazing Secrets of Card Magic, The Magic Video, Classic Renditions (3 Vols.), The Topit Tapes (2 Vols.), Live at the Magic Castle, Easy to Master Card Miracles (6 Vols.), Easy to Master Money Miracles (3 Vols.), and Greater Magic Video Library Vol. 5. He has performed in over 38 countries and maintains a full schedule of performing and speaking engagements for corporations and celebrities all over the world. In 1999, Magic Magazine named Michael as one of the "100 Most Influential Magicians of the Century".
