Looking for info on Hal Merton (early 1900's)

I am the great grand niece of Hal Merton. He was a magician and Ventriloquist. He was a member of the American Lyceum Union. I have viewed several items on the internet that have his picture, his 'resume' and other odd bits of information.

I would like to know more about Hal Merton. His real name was Walter George Peterkin. Born in NY and lived in Amintyville, NY. He published a magician's magazine which I would be interested in knowing more about. I don't know the name of the publication. I would love to see or buy a copy.

Thank you for your time!

He indeed owned and edited a magic magazine. It was Mahatma -- one of conjuring's great periodicals -- which he ran from February 1900 to July 1901. A portrait of Mr. Peterkin appears on page one the March 1900 issue (the first issue under his editorship).
