Mattel pulls magical Harry Potter toy
As reported by today's New York Post,(November 5, 2002) Mattel has stopped making its best-selling Harry Potter vibrating broomstick! The company says its decision is NOT based on the plaything's pulsating popularity, but "just not continued product in our 2002 line." The Nimbus 2000 drew raves from kids, but horrified parents who found their teenage daughters riding the buzzing $19.99 broomsticks. "Time Out New York" even rated the Nimbus along with bona fide vibrators in its Sex Issue.

That's not the first time Mattel has had to discontinue a toy for unexpected connotations.
There was the time several years ago that the version of Ken with a large ring on a chain around his neck was discontinued. It turns out that the designers had seen hip twenty-something guys wearing these and had copied them without realizing what they were.

Also, don't forget about the 13 inch electronic Tarzan action figure that when a sensor is activated he has chest thumping action.
Well it seems that the factory preset for the figure in the package had Tarzan's left hand strategically located about his groin area. When the sensor was activated as part of the free in-package-demo of the toy - well it looked a lot like Tarzan was in a very compromising position.
