Magic Castle, Saturday Night

Postby Lisa Cousins » October 9th, 2002, 9:09 am

This Saturday night, October 12, I will be at the Magic Castle to pow-wow with Forum Book Club Czar Dustin Stinett. If any of you Forum/Castle members are in the area and are free that evening, please stop by and say hello. I decided to pack the Mystic Bead Gown, so look for the sparkle (or, alternately, listen for the transcendental patter). Dustin promises that he'll be in his mesh bikini-briefs, so we should be very easy to spot.

See you there!

Lisa

Yep - coat, tie and mesh bikini-briefs. The dress code says nothing about trousers and a shirt.

Dustin,

Just make sure that you just say "Open Sesame" to the owl, and don't 'flash' it.

Good advice. The last thing I need on my record would be to have Milt, during his tours of the Castle, saying, "Here's where our owl was; It died of shock one night."

BAD NEWS: I have been informed that I will not be allowed into the Castle in my planned attire. They cited some California Department of Health codes and also pointed out that (and this is a direct quote), "it could prove to be as dangerous as shouting, 'fire!' in a crowded theater."

Bummer.

Is it still illegal in Kentucky to rush into a fire station and shout... "THEATER" ???

Actually real MEN don't wear mesh bikini anything! Bikini's were designed for women! :D

Pete, wouldn't recommend it, they would hit you with their croquet mallets. No joke, I work in a building next door to the fire station and if they aren't practicing fire fighting techniques, they are improving their croquet. :D

Being that I'm both originally from Kentucky, and also my family heritage is Scottish, real men wear Kilts and nothing under them (while shouting "theater!" in a crowded fire house...which isn't really a house...it's just a spare barn that a guy had behind his farm..).

1: No photos are allowed to be taken "in the Castle" (I was working inside a private party in the Seance Room).

2: I didn't even see Lisa.

Sorry fun seekers...

I caught a glimpse of Pete dashing up the stairs (he probably saw me first). I had no fear of any photos due to the rule and I knew Pete would follow it. Very nice to see Steve Bryant (barely - the place is either getting darker, or my eyes are getting older) back on the Left Coast as well.

The dress (Lisa's, not mine) was a big hit with the Hosts & Hostesses - and several other admirers as well.

It was a terrific evening. Shoot Ogawa was the highlight of the night (from a performance point of view): Beautiful sleight-of-hand from beginning to end.

Thanks again Lisa!

bryant and I were doing serious biz and didn't have time to socialize... SADLY...

Did get some great help from Jim Patton (tending bar) on an ace vanish for my MacDonald's routine.
