Re: Larry Jennings New Book?
Is it worthwhile to buy the other two Jennings book by Mike Maxwell, The Classical Magic of Larry Jennings and The Cardwright if I buy the three Jennings book by Kaufman? What I mean is will the three Kaufman books contain all the tricks in the Mike Maxwell books?

Re: Larry Jennings New Book?
You should definitely buy the three books that L&L put out (you missed the booklet Neo-Classics by Stephen Minch).
I will not by any means be including all of that material in my three books.
Most of the items in my books are new, though I am redescribing some things that were simply done incorrectly the first time or those for which Jennings developed better handlings, such as "Ambitious Classic" and "Ambidextrous Travelers."

I'm assuming "Ambidextrous Travelers" isn't going to be in "Mr. Jennings Takes It Easy"?

No, it's not. It's in the third book (Mr. Jennings Takes It Tough). I have several good and different handlings from Larry. Not sure if all of them will make it in.

RK, just to be clear on this, are you referring to "Louis Falanga's Lake Tahoe Card Magic" as one ot the three L&L books?Originally posted by Richard Kaufman:

The three L&L books are "The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings", "The Cardwright", and "Neoclassics". Mike Maxwell wrote the first two, and Stephen Minch wrote the last one, but they were all published by L&L.Originally posted by Bill McFadden:

Ricardo doesn't have any of Jennings' lecture notes listed, but all of that material (which hasn't been in a book before) will be in my books more accurately described.

Richard,
You've mentioned that Mr. Jennings Takes It Easy is going to be big VERY big. How many pages does it look like it's going to be?
Peter Bregman
P.S. Your books and printing quality are awesome and have certainly set the standards of what is to be expected of a fine quality magic tome. Keep up the good work and still manage time for your family!

Re: Larry Jennings New Book?
Peter, Mr. Jennings Takes it Easy is about 250,000 words--currently over 400 pages without a single photo or drawing in place. There are currently indications in the text for about 1300 images, though that number can increase or decrease during the editing process.
All told, the book will be between 500 and 600 pages.

My hope is that the book will become a bible of sorts for any cardman, beginner or expert, who's interested in learning the proper way to handle cards.

Re: Larry Jennings New Book?
Update: I have added another dozen routines to the book and the good news is that 9 of them are already completely written and in place. Have been working on it every day.
VERY close now. Will finish in the next month or so and send out copies for proofreading.
There are about 1500 images required, so it's going to be photographs. I hope to have it out sometime in 2008. At last!

Dear Richard,
As it seems that I'm going to lose my Genii Forum membership, can I get in quick and ask you to put me "down" for a copy of the new Jennings book, please. If you have an emailer list, mine is: info@paulgordon.net
Best, PG

I have no e-mail list or anything else. You will see ads both here on the Forum and in Genii when we start taking pre-publication orders when the book goes to the printer (about two months before release).

Yes. Jennings signed the pages for the deluxe edition before he died. I don't know where I can get a small amount of slipcases made, but will have to do some research on that.

Re: Larry Jennings New Book?
Hi,
This is the first time I write in this forum. And I do because I read on genii that Richard will be publish "jenning take it easy". MY Jennings first book was "The clasic magic of Larry Jenning" and I fall in love with the work of this master of cardmagic. Latter I discovered "Jenning 67" which I studied very hard. I specially love "Evolution of a classic Routine: Invisible Aces", but all his staff is really good, from a technical point of view.
so thank you, very much, Mr Kaufman to plublis this new book about Jenning, I am sure that people who loves good magic will enjoy it.
p.s. it is possible to know the contents of the book?

You'll see notices here, on the Genii website, and in Genii magazine when the book is at the printer and I'm ready to take pre-orders.
It'll be at least 6 months from now.

How many illustrations have been used to furnish this huge tome? Has Earl Oakes has provided all the illustrations?

Re: Larry Jennings New Book?
Richard, only mentioning this since it's one that Larry performed; I've never seen a write-up of Larry's handling of "Ladies' Looking Glass". Any chance of that going into the final book?

Yes, that will be in the third (and final) book: "Mr. Jennings Takes it Tough."

Re: Larry Jennings New Book?
There are about 1500 photographs to be taken for the "Easy" book. I can't afford 1500 drawings--it doubles the cost of publishing the book, so we'll have to use photos.

Re: Larry Jennings New Book?
Hi all,
First, thank you very much Richard for letting us get a glimpse of the upcoming Jennings book. I am drooling which is not a beautiful sight. There is so much i see in the table of contents that makes me smile and again drooling in anticipation. One of the trick that was published in the Almanach "Metassembly" is one of my favorite assembly, so well constructed, so fun to do. It will be fun to see it gained a new life through this book. And so on and on....
I'm wondering Richard, will the third book be as big as this one? Because if it does it will take another ten years before it sees the light of the day. I will be too old to use any of those effects when it comes out.

Re: Larry Jennings New Book?
Yves, all the tricks have new touches and more details. With "Metassembly," for example, when Jennings gave it to me for the Almanac he didn't explain a few small techniques that improve it--and these are in the book.
Don't ask me about the third book. Patience is a virtue.
