Theodore DeLand

Richard: Any news on when the book on Theodore DeLand will be published?

His work and character intrigued me recently as a result of reading your mention of him in the January 2002 Genii Speaks and also Kirk Charles' discussion of the various DeLand marked decks in his new book "Marked for Life."

I imagine that your publication will be an interesting book since DeLand seemed inventive and quite a character.

So far my work on DeLand has been entirely dedicated to collecting and research through old magazines. I have hundreds of DeLand items, and it will be quite a trick to get it all into one book. All of DeLand's stuff (forgetting the items put out later by Adams) is extremely rare, and so I'd like to put both photos of all the gaffed cards in the book and reprint the instructions in their entirety. This would be easy if the instruction sheets lent themselves to reproduction on an 81/2 x 11 inch page, but many of the instruction sheets are larger, and the type is already miniscule. So, am trying to sort some of these items out.
