Fred Kaps and bubbles

Postby Guest » December 14th, 2007, 2:02 am

Hello,

I'm in search of any infos about portable bubble systems...

Recently I saw this video by the great Fred Kaps, who's my favorite performer.

I'm currently working on a stage act and would like too to include a bubble sequence, mine mixing palmspining illusions and productions.

Any idea to where I could find some help ?

Thanks,

Guest

I thought this was going to be a story about a stripper. Oh, well...

Finn Jon has a book about bubbles. You may want to check that out.

Vito Lupo may be your go-to guy for this stuff and was doing an act using bubles back in the 1970s.

Thanks for your answers !

I've work hard on Finn jon material and thread relative illusions...I love the look of bubbles on stage!! ^^

I wonder if I'd better start from an existing (small) bubble machine and try to adapt it to my needs, or maybe some mechanism are already available.
I'll contact Vito Lupo thanks for the tip...

Also there's the command issue : how to start the flow at will ?

I imagine a portable/invisible bubble device...would it be possible ?

Punx had a soap bubble sequence that he closed his act with. Details are available from Once Upon a Time available from Ariel Frailich.

Kaps' was in the champagne bottle. Have you googled "bubble machine"?

I found one of these battery/electric ones at Toys 'R Us on sale for $10. Is small but really pumps them out. Works great.

If you look at the video the bubbles come out of s bottle. That's a difficult mechanical challenge.

Pete, that's exactly what I was talking about...
The challenge is to find a mechanism (not the one involved in traditional bubble machines) which could be stuffed in small object, like a champagne bottle.
This is the information I'm trying to find, to adapt a "micro-bubble-machine" into my own apparatus...

Ideally, I would love this device as a portable one, because it would enable me to control bubbles coming from me !!
^^

Thanks all for suggestions, please keep posting them!

I thought you were looking for portable bubble solutions. Battery-operated is a step in that direction. Finding one that fits inside a champagne bottle is indeed a challenge - but building one from existing ideas is a good jumpstart.

Thanks Keith,
After watching the video again, it seems to me that the bubbles come from the rear of the bottle neck, as if a tubing arises the top of the bottle...but how is it possible to do bubbles from a tubingin this condition ?
Wondering : how to manage the liquid ?
The air source ?
Imho Fred Kaps's system is his invention...
I admire him even more if this is right.
I guess I will have to try hard to achieve a similar goal...

That is why I said "contact Dick Koornwinder" he was a tech aid to Kaps and maybe built it. Dick also sold much of Kaps' props for the family.
email him at dkmagic@planet.nl
