Re: versions of homing card
The original is still the best as described in stars of magic.
Gordon Bruces pocket palm is a very deceptive way of producing the card from the pocket.
Originally described in epilogue and later in card shark by darwin.
Dave Williamsons 51 to pocket is a great finish!
Cheers :)

Re: versions of homing card
Mike Close has a version in the Workers Series, which is now available as an E-Book (that I bought at his lecture this weekend).
The books are required reading for serious close up guys and now that they're easy to find in a collection there's no reason not to study them.
http://www.michaelclose.com/workers.html
If you like card-to-pocket type effects the workers e-book also has his "Stupid Travelers" which might be the funniest card trick ever...
They are also on the videos he did for L&L, though I don't recall which one...

Re: versions of homing card
Homing Card Plus from Card College 2 is Roberto Giobbi's variation of the Carlyle version. Highly recommended.
Re: versions of homing card
No mention of Vernon's version? Actually, his take on Ireland's version (Ireland Writes a Book, Pg. 28). "The Aeroplane Card Trick" (The Vernon Chronicles Vol. 1, Pg. 144) is very good, and is probably the most artistic handling around.

Re: versions of homing card
The Jenning's routine cited above, Lassie and the Fechter routine are not the same effect as the the Carlyle/Grippo card to pocket effect from Stars Of Magic known as "The Homing Card" .
They are versions of the effect called "Flying Queen", created by Tenkai (see "Lassie" in the book FOCUS) in which an odd card returns to a small packet each time it is discarded until only one card remains.

Stupid Travlers is on "Too Close" which is volume #4. The stand-up volume.
I've performed the effect a couple of times.
I really like it.

Re: versions of homing card
I've been waiting for Acer to chime in here, since he knows, but my version of The Homing Card will, I've been told, be in the July issue. I'm very proud of it -- it's one of the few tricks I know where a palm was removed and the effect did not become less impressive, nor the handling less direct.

Re: versions of homing card
Sorry I'm late. YES, Pete's Homing Card/Card-To-Pocket routine ("Conveyor Belt") is in the July issue of Genii, and YES, it is absolutely the best no-palm card-to-pocket routine I have ever seen.

David showed this to me in the car (yes in a car) and it is INCREDIBLE...i'm serious this trick is worth the price of subscription for 2 years (I just don't know why David insisted on doing it naked)

Re: versions of homing card
Bill Duncan above has a point: there are two classic plots called "The Homing Card."
There's a version of the Lassie, Come Home trick in The Secrets of Brother John Hamman and also in the videos which is good, and I'm told Fred Kaps had a stand up version.
To the list of "Card To Pocket" tricks I'll add "The Brain Buster" from How To Do Tricks With Cards and "Lazy Man's Card To Pocket," by Jack McMillen, a bold no-palm method from Expert Card Technique.

If I remember correctly, it is published in his book UNEXPLAINABLE ACTS by Kaufman.
P.S. David, I don't think that you can say you were wearing a thong if it was on your head...silly

Re: versions of homing card
I once saw gary kurtz doing a card to any pocket type routine.
It was great.
left pocket /right pocket, inside / outside pocket
and if my memory serves me well finishing up in his wallet!
His timing was impeccable.
I have not seen this in print though
regards
john :)

Re: versions of homing card
Stefan, John, The trick is called "the Wishing trick". This routine is a bit silly compared to the homing card.I'll make a quick comment about this because the homing card
Carlyle's trick covers every secret action with misdirection and construction. You use palming in the first phase. In the second phase, when they are watching you like a hawk, the hands are clean. Kurtz's routine is basically a way to practice palming, a pocket is named, you palm the card, then take it out. You're one behind when you could be ahead.

Re: versions of homing card
The Card to pocket that i saw had nothing to do with the wishing trick, it was realy more a flirt with the female spectator and the card ended up in a zickzack wallet where it first was with the back to the audience then turnd visibly around and rose from the wallet! I talked to Gary about it and he said he would never publish it because it was way to difficult to build the wallet and it did not work 100% so it was something he tried for the magicians!
Best
