I'm practicing this with Major Arcana (including the Death Card).
It is a puzzling location but doesn't overshadow the subsequent single card reading.
And... I get to practice reading individual major cards.
With a regular deck, it is a fun impromptu card location. Or, use the playing card to do a reading.

I think I'll try it this way:
After the discovery, leave the card face up on top and let that image marinate... as they're wondering how, do a brief palm reading, then go back and do the single card reading (tying it in to their zodiac sign or birth month).
Or...instead of asking for their sign, divine it with a known method, then into the routine.
Hmmmm.....
I can't even buy a pint for 5 bucks.
