Based on the upper estimates I thought I might be able to pick up some bargains, but the free market is prevailing.

Some of the lots were a bargain...if you happened to want every single book in the lot! The reality is that the lots had been badly split, so very few people would have wanted all the books they won. I think we may be seeing a flood of them here, on other auction sites and through dealers over the coming weeks.

On a related note, if you won any of lots 227, 238 or 240 you have some titles that match ones I won (the auction house carelessly separated matching sets into different lots). If so, and you're not wanting everything you won, feel free to message me here.
