When will the nominees be announced
Re: Watch The Magic Castle Awards Show For Free
The final voting has already taken place. The winners were supposed to be announced in May but the annual awards show was postponed and eventually canceled. The online show at the end of this month is to announce the winners for 2019.

The thrust of his question remains intact:
Were the nominees publicly announced? If so, who were they?
Hint: The list of nominees builds anticipation and interest in an award event.

I would list them, but frankly I can no longer remember who was nominated in all the categories.

In the original post, non-members -- who wouldn't have seen or voted on any of the nominees -- were invited to watch.
So far it's not sounding very exciting to this non-member.

Thanks Dustin!

Sounds great!
While the pandemic has stolen a trip to the Castle and a visit to David Copperfield's museum from me it has given me several events, like this, that I wouldn't have experienced otherwise.
Tonight - a visit to the American Museum of Magic in Marshall, Michigan.

Sorry, I didn't have the list handy when I posted last night. It's been such a long time, I don't even remember who I voted for.

What a wonderful hour that was! So much great talent there and nice to see that so many who deserve awards received them.
Well presented in all aspects and great to watch! I am on my fourth go at it...lol.
I will say that perhaps the tribute to those we lost should have been saved for the very end. Other than that, a job well done and great to have the opportunity to see something like that.

It is 2:00 PM or so on Aug 24, the day after the Castle awards. The presentation is still online at magiccastle.com/awards, I think on purpose. If you missed it, or want to watch it again (I just did), take a look.

Re: Watch The Magic Castle Awards Show For Free
I'm a long-time member of the AMA but have never been to the Awards show, but have read the written reports about them for years. The impression I got was that they tended to vary in quality a bit, with many flashes of brilliance interspersed with somewhat flatter notes (like most live awards shows). Therefore, I was pleased and very curious when I heard that the AMA was going to stream the show.
I enjoyed watching quite a bit. The pace was very brisk, respectful (no lame jokes), and celebratory. I felt throughout that we were in solid, capable hands. The highlights for me were the Devant award going to the Larsen clan (So well-deserved!! --although what was going on with Erika's hair blowing to and fro?) and Derren Brown's acceptance speech. Oh, and Angelo Carbone's genius on display was stunning! (That milk thing is absolutely crazy!)
I was also appreciative but wrecked by the sad count of how many more giants we lost this year coupled with the increasing percentage on these lists of folks that I have actually met. (Those great pictures of NN and BW made me smile through the sadness).
In any event, hearty congratulations and a big "Well done!" to everyone involved in gifting us with this fine production.
