Frances Marshall tribute

Postby troublewit » July 17th, 2002, 6:40 pm

Thanks for the nice triple tribute to Frances Marshall. You were right, many of us have special stories and memories of her. When I was only 13 years old...back in 1972...I naively wandered in at the last minute to purchase a roll on table, thinking that they kept them in stock. Frances told me that you have to wait a few days, since they were made on site as they were ordered. I told her I understood, but she must have read my disappointment. She told me to hang around for a few hours, and she would finish one which was partially built for another customer. I went home that afternoon with my roll on table, which I have used, and re-finished many times over the years. More significantly, I retained a warm affection for her kindness which never faded away. I also think she was the most entertaining writer (journalist) I have had the pleasure to read in all of "Magicland". I miss her.
