I hate change ...

Me too.
I've only quoted this because it took me hours* to find out how to do it.
Ditto "Active Topics".
So far it seems quicker.

Everything now works! Everything is quicker. All messages have been carried over.
However, the graphic at the top is going to be changed shortly!

The last board was really slowing down, this new board appears to be much quicker.

I love the new functionality--nice work!
My only suggestion would be to please consider bringing back the ability to edit and delete posts (I think they time-out now). I sometimes post before getting everything straight on paper (which is clearly my fault), and I like to be able to clean up the grammar and factual mistakes.
Then again, perhaps not having this ability may make me think more before posting, which is certainly not a bad thing.

Thank you, Richard! I was hoping that graphic was not going to be there for too long - let alone permanently.
For a few seconds after I first saw that graphic, I thought the site had been hacked. But then I realized that cyberterrorists would never be able to survive the retaliation effort mounted by a large bunch of very angry and very united Genii-loving magicians and I realized everything with the new site was moving ahead fine.

You can still delete and edit your posts for a limited time: I just set it this morning. It has always been that way.

I think the new forum looks great! The layout is much better fitted for today's computer screens in width.

Where's the link to the back issues?
If it is on Genii World, I haven't been able to find it.

Do you see "issues" at the top (after clicking on Genii world)?

You may need to sign in (top right of genii world). Which is different then this forum sign in.

The sign-in process for The Genii Forum is not connected to, nor has it ever been, to the sign-in process for subscribers of the magazine to the digital edition.
You have to sign in separately for each because the digital editions of Genii are behind a pay wall.

My current link shows the last post was made over 24 hours ago. Thought it was a slow day on the forum.

I think mobile devices will take some catching up. I'll ask them to see if they can add Tap-a-Talk.

I've noticed the "favourite magician" field appears now on the side. It reminded me that I named Paul Daniels and Tom Mullica. Sad year so far!

Thanks to Richard for providing us Genii Forum members with such a high tech place for us to hang out!

Small suggestion: the white letters on the masthead are cut off on the left side and a bit hard to read. Perhaps that link to the home page could be resized a bit and/or moved?

Re: This New Blue Board
Can someone decipher the meanings of the icon that is to the left of each topic (the circle with lines inside).
I think if there is a star in the circle that means the poster is currently online, but I'm not sure.
Sometimes the lines are in motion. What does that mean?
Another feature seems to be that if there are no new posts since your last visit, the icon will be grayed out.
Also Dustin has a different shaped icon (like a light bulb). I figured that signified some special status, however Richard's posts only have the usual circle with the lines, so I don't know.
Just curious.

Nice look to the new board, but 'twould be nice to have the "Today's Active Topics" link back along with the sidebar with the last several posts.

Ah. Thanks, that helps. So, how about bigger buttons then?
Re: This New Blue Board
Excellent update on all fronts.
The site seems very fast, looks fresh, and seems to have everything easy to find if it's handled differently than it was on the old site.
Great job, and "search" is ... well, very welcome for those of us who recall posts from a few years ago, but could never find them by just clicking around.

Re: This New Blue Board
Thanks for the compliments--it's still a work in progress.
Billl M, don't feel bad: it took me 20 minutes to find the "Active Topics" button this morning!
As you can see, the image on the top has been changed, and the white lettering across it has vanished.
In the next few days the buttons above and below the row of issues will change.
And if you look at the issue farthest to the right, you can see our April cover.

I came here to bemoan the loss of Active Topics. But apparently it's here, just hiding. For the life of me, I can't find it. Is it a button? A word link? Where? I feel like such an old man... Thanks.

Top right corner of the page, a small horizontal black button with white letters. It is at the top of Irene Larsen's photo.
Same question was answered for me above. The buttons are indeed a bit inconspicuous.

Aha! Active Topics is in the site navigation, not the board navigation. Hidden plain sight. Thank you, Bill.

Now that it's developed (no longer blue) and I've gotten used to it, I like it.
Aesthetically, I would place a small gap between the GENIIFORUM masthead and the four buttons below it; mirroring the gap
between the navigation buttons and the Genii covers at the top of the page.
Technically, do you need both a "new posts" and an "active topics" button? They're kind of the same thing. New posts will always be at the top of the active topics list.
