At one time, I believe you could put your email address in publicly available part of your profile. When did that go away? Can the option be restored?
Some significant fraction of the PM's I receive and send are "what is your email address?"

You could always put it in your signature...

I could, but that would make it more "scrapable" (is that the word I'm looking for?).

An email address on a profile or a sig would definitely get harvested (that was the word you were looking for).
Depends if you like getting spam I guess.
I would definitely not want my email address anywhere.

Re: email addresses on profiles
It doesn't matter if the address is in your signature or another public part of the site; robots follow every link, so it will be captured wherever it is (as Damian said).
*resists temptation to put Damian's address in my Cafe signatire *

Yah, but the profile is only semi-public, as you have to log in to see it. So long as robots don't get accounts, I'm fairly safe, I think.

You could put your email in as your "Jabber address" and it will show up

Thanks, Joe. That's what I was looking for.
Why is it called "Jabber address"?

Jabber is an instant message tool, that not many people I know use.

Re: email addresses on profiles
I used to use jabber. It was an attempt to be a master console of all the instant messaging clients at the time. AOL's IM, yahoo's IM, ICQ etc. You sign in with jabber and have all your contacts in one place and you didn't care what network they were on.

Robots get accounts here every single day. Those spam messages that are posted in the morning GMT, of which there are many, they are all robots. But, do as you wish, obviously.

I dont think you will be collected if you change your @ sym to something different, such as a % or $. Those who want to email you have to change it back to the @. this used to keep your email safe

This is your first (and so far, only) post on the board. Are you one of those email-harvesting robots mrgoat is referrring to?
