The sentimental feeling of love in this film resonates for a very long time after it is over.
Charming!
Thank you Paul.

Re: The Magic Box
Thanks, Paul....
This wonderful pantomime of actions, reactions, and facial expressions understates because there are no statements, no words. It does what film is meant to do, or as Stanley Kubrick once said, “A film is - or should be - more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what's behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.”
It all comes later, indeed.
Your short film plays on in each viewer’s mind as it resonates in his or her heart. At least it did in mine.
Terrific job to everyone.
Maybe it's time to apply that kind of artistry to teaching magic via DVDs?
Onward...

Re: The Magic Box
Not to detract from Paul's wonderful film,
Careful - that's a slippery slope. Technical teaching needs to be clear and easy to understand. If you start slipping 'artistic' anything into the mix, you end up with the wobbly out of focus' brigade. If you have every tried to learn anything from one of these videos, you will understand why this is a step backwards.
As for The Magic Box, I still tear up when I think about it. Sublime.

To Ian:
I agree with your "take," Ian, but I'm not referring to soft-focus, artsy, experimental stuff. I'm talking about using the form's power to enlighten. They do not exploit all those possibilities. I'm thinking Nova and other documentarians here...
