Weber's Wallet was sold at Magic-Con for $150. I think Michael was able to do a slight discount in Blackpool based on the volume he thought he was going to sell.

Michael along with Tim Trono were pushing Real Secrets fairly heavily at Blackpool.

RS has CLEAR rules. Rules are there to be followed and acted upon. Some people always think they must or have the right to break the rules and wonder when they get punished.

I myself think it is very well done what they do, being a creator that has been ripped off many times I fully understand the reasoning behind.

If you don't like it, just simply don't join it and turn your energy towards other things. Life is too short and magic too deep to waste time on stuff like this. Personally I think RS is a wonderful concept and will for sure subscribe...

Do they? You're not a member yet, are you? Seems they make them up as they go. Maybe now, but those "clear" rules you're talking about weren't made that clear in the beginning.

They have our email addresses. A notification once in a while when they make a major change like deleting items without notice would be nice.

You said:

I agree completely, that's why I canceled my membership.

Don't worry Dave, I is not my intention to create another hassle in Richard's forum. tObiviously "they" did't do these notifications as is obvious by your posting, but then... let us see for the hardcore tricks they deliver. And not "split hair" as we say in Bavaria... Everything I heard so far - these are really good and interesting! And that is what counts (at least, for me). I never was a "beancounter" (joke).
No, I am not a member yet, but will be soon if they let me... and I will miss out the first tricks, but then... better late than never. And I will survive it, even if "they" don't let me in because I wrote about it. Because there are (as another gentlemen wrote it) soooo many great magic tricks out there still to be explored and (re)discovered.
I agree with Richard: I actually wouldn't need another exclusive things to do to impress those not in the know - but I LOVE collecting secrets, and also with me it makes a smile in my face, like a child, when I get a new one (I confess!)
I think it is a great thing and we should not hassle around little things. Let us be happy there is something new and interesting to be keen on!!!
After all, that is one of the reason's most magicians go to see a lecture - to see "something new" and to be entertained.
It is this what these guys give us! :-)
Fun, entertainment and they keep us talking. Great, isn't it?
Cheers,
Alexander

I think he/she meant to say he/she paid a lot for the wallet; hence, the reserve.

The Weber wallet was sold at Blackpool for a special price of US$100 or 65 pounds (the regular price is $150), so I think the reserve is a bit too high...

The Weber wallet and the routines, are easily worth $150. If Michael has gone to the trouble to have something made for himself, it is worth getting, if he gives you the opportunity to purchase it.

Yes, there is a great bonus routine from Axel Hecklau. Sign onto the site and look for "bonus routine" on the left. Another example of Real Secrets giving us extra value for our investment. For anyone who is still on fence, we have received 2 interesting effects and so many extras. Join us!

I haven't received number 3 on the East Coast of the US, but make sure you go to the website and click on "Notes." Under all of the blog stuff there are a bunch of orange links. Open them and save them. It's another full effect, instructions and props (you print them out). Considering how quickly the blog stuff vanished after item 1, I'd say he who hesitates is lost! So don't hesitate!

The third installment of Real Secrets arrived in DC today. A very good trick, perhaps the best yet, which embodies that in-the-spectator's-hands aspect of close-up magic that freaks people out.

Also included in the package is the most elaborate bonus item yet, but the item has no instructions! Waiting ...

I would suggest that fellow subscribers continue to check the website daily. Make sure you've downloaded the current bonuse items under "Notes" and elsewhere. I'm guessing that when the instructions for the bonus props which came with Real Secrets 3 get posted, the other items might go away!

Very pleased to announce the following bit of fun for members of Real Secrets who are also coming to the Genii Convention in October, as related to me in an email from the Real Secrets Team:

"Real Secrets is having a party for members only at the Genii 75th Birthday Bash. Prior to October, Real Secrets members will receive something special that they will be instructed to bring with them to the convention to gain entry. This item is for members only and they will need to show this item to enter the party.

"Members will not be permitted to bring guests. There will be food (pizza), beverages, and the ability to openly meet fellow Real Secret members and to share ideas and more.

"As with all associated with Real Secrets, there will be additional surprises. Time and date to be announced but it will happen during a free period so no convention events are missed.

"If you will be attending the convention and would like to come to the Real Secrets party, watch the Real Secrets website for instructions regarding what to bring to gain entry.

"Please RSVP to info@realsecrets.org prior to the convention to ensure appropriate planning."

And at mindnight one heard the thud of the door's latch followed by a well timed clap of thunder. Suddenly the lights went out save for one, dimly casting a glow on a row of hooded figures who one would swear were not in the room a moment before.

Perhaps next we then enact our own version of 'murder by death'.

I wonder who gets Truman capote's part?

Sound like a blast. I look forward to the festivities. (even if it's just punch and pie).

Dustin, I can assure you that you will not see a group of grown men in their underwear being paddled while saying, "Thank you sir, may I have another."

Though, you may hear "Thank you sir, may I have another" when someone is getting their second round of pizza and beer.

An Unofficial Real Secrets Cheer:

We are not Masons, Elks, or Moose.
We do not haze each other on the caboose.
We pay for what we learn,
Though we cannot tell others in return.
Magic is our means of egress,
but we'll cut your nuts off if you tell our secrets.

There are strange things spun, in the midnight fun,
By the men who moil for magic;

The Secrets are Real, and if you choose to reveal,
Your penalty is truly tragic.

Its creators are veiled, and its traitors impaled,
But its members are giddy with glee;

For its delights do deliver, that wowified shiver,
That help one become a Genii.

(props to Robert W. Service)

I think the idea of a Real Secrets members only get together is clever and novel, just as Ive found Real Secrets to be.

I like the thought of meeting to celebrate the birth of a new monthly magic favorite, while gathering to celebrate 75 Years of an iconic monthly magic favorite. Richard, thanks for hosting!

If the Real Secrets team (are they going to wear bags over their heads?) wants to throw a side party anywhere, more power to them. But if would suck if Richard were to divert funds from the general masses to support the effort or to compress the schedule to accommodate the "event." I've been to other conventions where the general funds were used to support a party for an elite few and always thought that was a really bad idea, even if I happened to be in the few. Let's keep the focus on Genii.

I am not paying for anything. Real Secrets will pay for and provide both the venue and any food.

It is taking place during a lunch or dinner break (yet to be decided) so it will not interfere with any other activity.

I thought it was nice of them to offer a benefit to our conventioneers who also happen to be RS members. It costs me nothing, costs you nothing, and doesn't detract from any scheduled Genii convention events. PLUS there's free pizza! :)

I hope you're charging them as much as your dealers.
