Cards Cracking During CardWarp?

Postby Steve Mills » April 24th, 2012, 12:30 pm

The current discussion on this trick has morphed into something well beyond my understanding. It did, however, cause me to pull it out again and try to learn , what I think is, a very good trick.

When trying to learn it, most of the cards want to crack and crumble and I am unable to continue. Does anyone have a suggestion for the best cards to use?

Thanks.....
Steve

Funny you should mention that. As I posted in the other thread Charlie Frye went over his full routine with me at Blackpool this year: Warped and Fryed - Card Warp followed by Sawing a Lady in Half (with playing cards).

Today I showed it to Rafael Benatar over breakfast and in showing him the handling, the cards cracked.

I was using some older Bicycle cards that I had bought as part of an auction lot. They had just dried out and were a tad brittle when folded.

I've had no trouble with newer cards.

I have found that the cheaper the cards, the less likely they are to crack. I have decks that are 20 years old that work very well and don't crack.

Don is right -- those cheapie two-ply Chinese cards work great. For dried out cards, put them in a freezer for a couple of days.

Actually, using older bicycles - I guess they're getting brittle (like their owner).

I just folded and creased a card as an experiment out of a pack of new Richard Turner pro Bikes. Folded and creased without cracking. Folded it back and forth about six times, each time with a crease, and still no cracking.
