You're so graceful, David, and you look much better with your head shaved and contacts instead of glasses.

Re: The End of Magicana! (2011)
Pertaining to Magicana 2011, it's interesting to note which tricks generate buzz when they're published versus those that enter (and exit?) quietly. I've had the pleasure of seeing most of this year's entries performed by their originators, and as a result, some of them stick out in my mind. For example:
Patrik Kuffs' TOSSED OUT RUBIK'S CUBE (January 2011): This is an ingenious way to force colors on a Rubik's Cube, embedded in a fun routine straight from Pat's act. And be sure to check out Bob Farmer's clever variation in the April, 2011 issue. Really and truly might be worth your subscription for the year.
Cameron Francis's SPACE SAVER (January 2011): I won't be surprised if Cameron puts this on the market. In an effort to conserve pocket space, you carry laminated photos of everything you would normally keep on your person, like keys, a lighter, change, etc. You offer to show how this system works and have an audience member choose a photo, then you magically pluck the object from that photo into the three-dimensional world. The photo is now objectless. It's a fun, memorable plot, and the magic is strong.
Joey Incollingo's THE ALMOST INVISIBLE BOTTLE (March 2011): A great walkaround trick using the top of a soda bottle and a silk. I get why this didn't generate much buzz - it's just a novel framework for a standard thumb-tip silk vanish - but the fun and funny premise elevates it to a whole new level.
Matthew Rider's THE FORTUNATE TRAVELLER (March 2011): The trick itself is new and novel, and I think Matthew's use of an origami fortune-teller as a forcing device has a lot of potential for other effects.
David Gabbay's SWEET (April 2011): It's a little "knacky," but when you develop the touch, there's no more convincing way to do a totally impromptu signed-coin-in-sugar-packet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCsI5CLNIeg&NR
Richard Sanders' MAKING CHANGE (May 2011): I'll try to record Richard doing this so you can see how magical it looks. A quarter is broken apart like peanut brittle into two dimes and a nickel.
Ed Oschmann's PSYCHIC FAIL (August 2011): A quick, easy card trick with built-in laughs and a surprising revelation of a chosen card. It's a walkaround alternative to the McCombical Prediction and a worker, plain and simple.
Chris Mayhew & Ryan Pilling's LULU'S LEMON (September 2011, with a correction in the October 2011 Genii Speaks): A streamlined approach to Paul Harris's "Lala's Lulu" that sets a new standard for this kind of transposition. This is really, really good.
