I think the book is a myth. It is like the Truman show, you are all in on it except me

The DVDs have a structure unto themselves and they can be watched independently of the book, and are numbered 1, 2, and 3 for that purpose.

However, if one is going to try and use the book and DVDs together as a learning tool, then it's best to watch "The Bull Theatre Show" on DVD 2 first.

So, there are two different things going on: DVDs on their own, or DVDs used with the book.

I've had times when it's taken two weeks for something I've sent to Earle Oakes in Philadelphia to arrive, and I live in Washington DC, which is just two hours away. The USPS is pretty unpredictable, but I'm happy that many people are receiving their books. As I often tell my 9.5 year old daughter, patience is a virtue.

Hey Richard,

Can't wait to read the boook. Hopefully it will arrive in the UK soon...

Anyway - I just read the review for it in GENII. And wanted to ask you a quick question. As a 'traditional' cardman - with Jennings/Hamman/Vernon type 'influences' (I hope that is a fair analysis of your influences!). Have you found yourself re-evaluating (and changing) your approach in light of what you have learned from David Berglas's work? This was something that David Britland touched on in his review - and I find it an interesting concept. I like the idea of being to think about card magic in a totally new way - even if you have being doing it for the past 50 years...

Thanks once again for making this book happen!

Joe

Well, I do Think a Card now, and I've never done anything like it before. My experience with other types of card magic really don't have much bearing on it at all.

If I could improve postal service in the United States, then I would have mastered something far more valuable than The Berglas Effect!

Hello Richard,
I placed an order 9 days ago, and just received an email today that it still won't be shipped for a few days. I was really looking forward to receiving this in time for my vacation. DId they sell out?

Thank you,
Chris

Thanks for your order, Chris.

No, they have not sold out. Margret, our office manager, was on vacation and is just now catching up. My wife and I continue our work on preparing the next issue of Genii as normal when Margret is gone, and so we don't have time to process orders (though we do try to answer the phone).

We are a very small business! Thanks for your patience.

I have just today learned, much to my dismay, that the printer did not ship the books by Priority Mail as I both instructed and paid for. The dumb bells shipped the books by Bound Printed Matter, which is why it's taking everyone so long to receive them. I apologize for this, even though it's not my fault, and I hope the books arrive as quickly as possible for the rest of you.

Today I was told that the slipcases should arrive at the printer on June 17. They have to insert the books into the case, shrinkrwrap and box it up, then ship. I would say that's going to happen Tuesday June 21 at the earliest. That is assuming, of course, that when I see the finished slipcase it actually fits the book!

Sounds like they pulled a fast one on you... Bound Printed Matter shipping is significantly cheaper than Priority Mail. Will you be asking them for a refund of the difference? I am quite dismayed to hear that I paid for priority shipping (at a premium, since I am in Canada) and am not receiving it (and I acknowledge that it is not your fault). Thanks for all your updates and transparency.

I don't know how the books were shipped outside the US yet. Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow.

And, yes, of course I'll be getting a refund on the postage. I wouldn't say they "pulled a fast one." More likely it was just done out of stupidity.

Good morning,

for the reason you wrote, please check that my book will be shipped (I hope they already did) by UPS courier to Italy.

With regard to international shipping, I can exclusively reveal that there has been yet another mix up at the printers: -
1. The overseas orders were only shipped last night.
2. Due to an unfortunate breakdown in communication, each book being sent overseas has been dispatched in it's own personal Lear jet and will be arriving at your local airport presently, at which point it will be transported directly to your door by stretch limousine, accompanied by a team of crack police motorcycle out-riders.
(I would mention that there was a slight delay when each book was placed in the wrong seat in it's own personal aircraft and had to be manually removed and placed in the correct one.)
RK now owes the printers $7.6M to cover the cost of the increased shipping charge...

I think I'm going quite mad - Nurse, hand me my pills...

Thanks Richard...I think their cheapest international option would have been International Priority, unless they tried to stuff the book in an envelope and send it as a letter... you never know though! I'm curious and hope they did the right thing. In any case, it could get held up for weeks at the border any way, so the shipping method used might be a moot point.

If the books had been sent by Priority Mail as I have requested and paid for, everyone in the US would have received their copy by now. I am uncertain now long Bound Printed Matter takes for delivery. Obviously many people have received the book, but it appears an equal number have not. I have never used Bound Printed Matter before and am unfamiliar with it, but from what I've read on the internet, the post office says 2 to 9 days for delivery. To me, since I don't trust the post office estimates, that translates into 4 to 18 days. This Friday, June 10, will be two weeks since the books were mailed. By post office estimates everyone in the US should receive it by then. Personally, I would expect that it might take another week for everyone to get them.

Again, I apologize for this, but there's nothing I can do when the printer has sent everything out incorrectly other than ask folks to please be patient.

At the moment I am trying to ascertain from the printer exactly how the books outside the US were sent.

Berglas crawled out of my PO Box yesterday, and said "Dang, it's hot!" and crawled back in (99 degrees, record is 102 for the day). I think he'd been in there since Friday afternoon.

I coaxed him out with offers of ice cream, and we had a good evening.

Wow, what a book. Even though I'd seen the bulk of it already, it's still really impressive.

No problem Richard. This will not be my first book about magic. In the meantime I can read and re-read all the other books I have been impatiently waitet for back then. (such as Mnemonica by Juan Tamariz and many others)

I think I read Mnemonica but I can't remember any of it.

Zing! Just a joke to while away the hours while I'm waiting for the book. Did anybody in Woodland Hills receive it? I'm just looking for another reason to be depressed.

A question for those who have read the whole book.

What percentage of the material is mem-deck based?
