The book has not arrived in Dayton, OH yet either.

Luckily, now I can use the long weekend to finish moving into the new house before I dive into the tome. I am looking forward to my walk to mailbox on Tuesday though :)

I was delighted when my deluxe edition arrived in early February - delivered personally by David Bergals himself who, for some reason, was accompanied by Keira Knightley, Angelina Jolie and Jessica Rabbit, each of whom bore a large container filled with whipped cream....no, sorry, my apologies - I think that was a dream.

If my magazine deliveries are anything to go by, I should receive my copy around Christmas Eve - delivered, as usual, by the postman with the hangdog expression, the unfortunate BO and the single tooth, doing his utmost to ram a very large book into a very small letterbox.

God knows when I'll see my deluxe edition...

Yes, AJM, but before your postman (with his single-toothed smile/smirk) delivers the book on December 23, he'll ask to to think of a card, then select a number. Only then will he draw your attention to a deck of cards lying beside your doorstep ....

That dirty dog.

David Berglas has not arrived in Easton, PA. Now I have no excuse on why I can't cut the grass or do the yard work this weekend.

Richard Kaufman wrote:Not "re-slipcasing," Jim. Color plates in all books have to be manually moved to the correct positions. This is a separate issue from the slipcases for the deluxe editions being delivered a month later than they should have been (which will be mid-June).

Richard,

Could you please provide more information as to what physical damage, if any, will result from moving color plates?

Also, what is a color plate? Is it a page that was printed at the wrong place?

Awaiting the deluxe edition with much anticipation.

Thank you.

There is no trace of the color plates having been moved. A color plate is the term for a color page printed on enamel stock.

Yay!! Mine arrived in Blackpool, UK, yesterday (Saturday). I was away so i instructed it to be taken next door. I got home today and my neighbour brought it around.First impressions? Well, anyone looking for a quick fix ACAAN is going to be sorely disappointed! If you could not learn it from the Britland book, I doubt you will learn it from this.
So far I have really only studied the Equivoque section and that is fantastic. I was looking forward to this chapter more than ACAAN to be honest.
Now reading "He didn't touch the deck" and it's good to see the myth that the deck is NEVER touched finally dispelled! Also, I may be speaking out of turn, but I feel that for many buyers, the DVDs are going to be enjoyed more than the book.
Right, back to the book. Bye.
Darren.

Glad to hear that someone has received it, but I'm puzzled that you would say this: "If you could not learn it from the Britland book, I doubt you will learn it from this."

The book written by David Britland devotes a few pages to "The Berglas Effect," while the new book devotes 75 pages to it! We give a comprehensive detailed explanation of exactly how Berglas performs "Any Card at Any Number" and "The Berglas Effect." How could you not learn it from 75 pages of detailed explanation? You may not be able to do it because of the memory work involved, but surely you can learn it.

I reaaly meant that those who could not "get it" from reading between the lines from the other book will probably not be prepared to put the work in with this book either. As you know, it will take a lot of work, I'm sure you will agree. Memory work for me is not a proble. I've used a mem deck for 10 years and was using memory systems to do memory tricks in 1983 and love anything using mnemonics, but a lot of mentalists I know just will not even contemplate learning a stack as they assume it's too difficult. These are the people I think will not learn it from your book.
I know I will get a lot from it. Thanks, Richard.

At least there's no need to read between the lines of this book. It's all very clearly spelled out.

Glad you think the DVDs are enjoyable.

But I'm mystified how your copy has arrived in the UK before anyone's in the USA!

Well it's well and truly here! And bigger than I thought it would be!
Maybe they're all too absorbed in its pages to get on to their PCs to tell you they got it. And I dont blame them!
Going to get back to it myself now, and it's 2.46 in the morning!
Darren.

No need to read between the lines. I've been reading the book since I bought a copy direct from Richard at the MCA Conference in Chicago last week and everything is clearly laid out and couldn't be more direct and straightforward. Like a lot of good material, it will take some time and careful practice to master but well worth it.

Book's a masterpiece. Well done!!!

Okay, I have an update. I was given incorrect information by my printer. The books all shipped out on Friday (none before that), and should start arriving today and tomorrow in the US.
Thanks for your patience!

So how did the bloke from Blackpool get his copy 1 day later?

I don't recall there being a 'time machine' shipping method.

I'd be interested to check out his copy to see where his color plates have been inserted and, if required, be happy to assist inserting them elsewhere.

I think the guy in Blackpool might have bought it at the IMX convention in Vegas or someone brought it back for him. Since no copies were shipped until last Friday, I don't see how he could have received a book through the mail.

Hi Richard,
I'm in Los Angeles and still have not received my book. Is that unusual or have others not received it as well? Also, do you have a tracking number in which I can look up to see where my book is? What state did you ship from?

There are no tracking numbers for Priority Mail.

The books shipped Friday as noted earlier in this thread. They should arrive, if Priority Mail works the way it is supposed to (2 to 3 day delivery), today, tomorrow, and Friday. Some folks won't receive theirs until next week.

I have good newd and bad news to report. The good news is the book is here in Tampa but it was delivered by first class mail and NOT by priority mail. It will take longer for many of you to recieve the book but it will be there soon! Off to reading!!

Frank, anything over 13 ounces is automatically Priority Mail. There is no first class service above 13 ounces. Since the book weighs several pounds, it was sent by Priority Mail.

It's come to my attention that some folks are having trouble figuring out how to remove the DVDs from the vinyl sleeves.
Each sleeve has a pre-scored vertical strip that is designed to be pulled off, creating an opening to remove the DVD.

If you don't see the vertical strip, lift the flaps on the dustjacket.

Wow. I fear that anyone having problems getting the DVDs out of the sleeves is going to find that the material in the book is way beyond their capabilities.

Now, now ... I guess that the tear-off strips are not immediately apparent to folks because they're under the flaps of the dustjacket.

Isn't that why you wrote this book?
Because The Berglas Effect was "not immediately apparent to folks" by reading the Britland book.
