Card Splitting - Making Split Face Cards

Postby MagicJB » March 20th, 2011, 5:13 pm

Dear all,

Question for those who like to split cards, as I'm attempting to make a split face card (eg half Queen of Clubs/half 2 of Hearts). The card splitting is going fine. Basically, I remove half the thin part of the Queen of Clubs and half the thin part of the 2 of Hearts. However, when I attempt to rubber cement the thin 2 of hearts (face) to the thick Queen of Clubs & Back, there is a very noticeable discoloration from the rubber cement visible through the white of the glued face. Any advice on this, maybe use less rubber cement?

Thanks,
Jeremy

You could try a spray adhesive, but the secret to making the best gaffed cards is to use dry mounting tissue.

My advice is to purchase the e-book, "The Gaff Factory by Craig Matsuoka".

[size:14pt]I am curious as to how these 3 items compare. Is anyone familiar with all three?

The Art of Card Splitting with Martini (DVD)
The Gaff Factory by Craig Matsuoka (ebook)

The Art of Card Splitting with Martini (DVD)
Is about making gaffs using rubber cement. Cares for acrobatic cards.

The Gaff Factory by Craig Matsuoka (ebook)
Is about making gaffs using dry mount tissue (DMT). Cares for shim cards.

Gaffed to the Hilt Card Making (DVD) by Don England
Is about the gaffs itself - not explaining how to manufacture them using one of the methods above.
