Update: Just found out Michael Caine is in this movie. That opens intersting possibilities for intercutting with the Batman films and The Prestige as well. Perhaps add a few clips from both versions of Sleuth and we've got something intersting.

Directors often have a stable of actors they use in film after film. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp.

The film inspired a thought about creating an effect where the audience assumes one reality when in fact all of the actions have a completely different interpretation which is only understood at the end. Not a sucker gag, a routine where the audience follows a complex series of events that have two meanings, what they are led to think is happening and the what is really happening. Alternative reality. Like effects with time manipulation, it sounds great, but it's hard to realize. In Jim's new book "The Conjuring Anthology" there is a charming effect called "Making Time" that I am going to perform. Steinmeyer thinks for all of us.

Glad to read that Jim Steinmeyer is giving folks material they can work with and think about.

The film inspired a thought about creating an effect where the audience assumes one reality when in fact all of the actions have a completely different interpretation which is only understood at the end.

That puts magic about a century behind common literature. Keep up the good work - more efficient to get ones ideas from books IMHO.

The astute viewer watching Inception may consider whether the kid was more of a player - and in context whether it's really Alfred's attempt to cure Bruce Wayne.

The best inspiration comes from outside magic. If we constantly rehash conventional presentations, we doom our art to stagnaion. Nolan showed what was possible with non-linear story telling in "Momento." It's amazing he ever got it made since Hollywood feeds on itself by constantly producing high concept knock-offs. The heat "Inception" is getting is a lesson to us all. If you wanted be noticed, invent.

Penn & Teller's routine Cowboy is very much about this concept. The audience gasps at the end.
