Blank Night.... New bank Night Routine

Postby John Archer » April 29th, 2010, 9:31 am

Hi all.

I am not sure of the etiquette of posting about your own products here, or indeed most forums. If I am meant to get someone else to say "Hey does anyone know about John Archer's new Bank night routine called 'Blank Night' it sounds great" then please let me know. If putting this up myself is bad form then please delete and I'll use the back door.
Cutting to the chase I have decided to release my bank night routine as a downloadable PDF (an experiment in marketing at the moment). If you are interested I have added a magician's page on my website where you can find more information and if you so wish, purchase. www.john-archer.com
many knowledgeable (and not so knowledgeable) magicians have seen it and made positive comments. I will leave it to them to decide if they wish to speak up with a yea or nay.

Many thanks,

John.

Money paid, now waiting for the goods.

I've got just about everything John has released, and perform at least one of his items in every show.

John, if you happen to be selling your soul, let me know and I'll probably buy that too.

John emailed with the goods, which I've now read through.

Overall, I like it. The instructions are very clear, which for this particular version of Bank Night, need to be.

There isn't any included patter, just the method. Not a criticism, just pointing it out for those looking for included patter. I, personally, would have paid more if it included a new/unique presentation

There are also some nice small tips along the way (that are applicable to all bank night routines), as well as a few jokes which made it a pleasure to read.

The method is not entirely self-working, and will take some practice to get right. But there's the definite potential, with a small amount of work, to make this look super clean.

Not that such things matter to me, but performed correctly, this will fool the pants off any magician.

Well the reviews are starting to come in from some people who have seen the PDF...

So in an attempt to further hype myself here's what some eminent people have said ...

"Absolutely wonderful. Great thinking." Banachek

"Im frankly amazed that John has decided to release it, but who am I to argue? Its a fantastic development that all magicians need to know about." Geoffrey Durham

"Lovely" Michael Weber

"It's a smart, ingenious method that works well in the real world." Ian Rowland

"First paragraph: 'magicians' shouldn't have an apostrophe." John Lovick

Cheers,

John.

Ive banged on about this on every forum, and i guess i should do it here too.
This is a work of Genius, and brings many possiblities to the table, besides the bank night premmise.
with a little imagination, so many other effects are possible with this. Its the ultimate pack small, play big effect. No Forces what so ever.. and clean at the end.

Its just you, the audience , and five envelopes..

Ok guys.

Not sure if this is a good idea or not but I have a little youtube video here of me running through the effect without any presentation. I promise this is as it would look. I really am doing the work and I deliberately didn't take the easiest route.

I await the inevitable critiques.

Regards,

John.

Hi John,

I don't know if perhaps you changed your mind, but the video is private (it can only be seen by people you "friend" on YouTube and then grant permission).

Best,

N.

P.S. If you're looking for a way to have it viewable only to folks on forums who have the context and not the general public -- I believe Vimeo has an option where you can set up a password and only folks with that password can watch it

Having read the notes, I can confirm that the video is an accurate representation of the handling (and John definitely didn't take the easy way out)

I've seen John perform this in front of a paying audience (they paid to see someone else but they had still paid) and it is a brilliant routine. The method is really, really clever and makes this probably the cleanest version of Bank Night around. It's also a big advantage to take out several unfolded notes from a large envelopes as opposed to a single 'bill switch sized' note from a small envelope.

If you do get the chance to see John perform this, you'll see just how great it is, especially when you see the words he uses on the envelopes!
