For palindrome lovers

Discussions of new films, books, television shows, and media indirectly related to magic and magicians. For example, there may be a book on mnemonics or theatrical technique we should know or at least know about.

For palindrome lovers

Postby Gary Kosnitzky » February 26th, 2010, 11:17 am

A palindrome reads the same backwards as forward. This video reads the exact opposite backwards as forward. Not only does it read the opposite, the meaning is the exact opposite.

This is only a 1 minute, 44 second video and it is brilliant. Make sure you read as well as listenforward and backward.

This is interesting but it isn't palindromic. The lines are read in reverse order but not in reverse.

"Never odd or even" is a palindrome.

A man, a plan, a canal: Panama.

A Toyota. Race fast, safe car. A Toyota.

Are we not drawn onward, we few, drawn onward to new era?

As I pee, sir, I see Pisa!

Dammit, I'm mad!

Ed, I saw Harpo Marx ram Oprah W. aside.

Evil did I dwell; lewd I did live.

Party boobytrap.

Reviled did I live, said I, as evil I did deliver.

Tarzan raised Desi Arnaz' rat.

Won't lovers revolt now?

A man, a plan, a canoe, pasta, heros, rajahs, a coloratura, maps, snipe, percale, macaroni, a gag, a banana bag, a tan, a tag, a banana bag again (or a camel), a crepe, pins, Spam, a rut, a Rolo, cash, a jar, sore hats, a peon, a canal - Panama

(of course, this one gets zero coherence points...but sometimes size matters)

I also think the video Gary posted is fascinating -- much more so than pedantically correct palindromes (see the mass of non-sense at the beginning of this post) -- and, of course, he only mentions that it would appeal to lovers of palindromes (and it does to this lover!), not that it is -- actually -- a palindrome

Lots and lots of palindromes in the Ellipses(...) columns in quite a few issues of APOCALYPSE. HL.

I feel compelled:

I, man, am regal a German am I
Never odd or even
If I had a hi-fi
Madam, I'm Adam
Too hot to hoot
No lemons, no melon
Too bad I hid a boot
Lisa Bonet ate no basil
Warsaw was raw
Was it a car or a cat I saw?
Rise to vote, sir
Do geese see God?
"Do nine men interpret?" "Nine men," I nod
Rats live on no evil star
Won't lovers revolt now?
Race fast, safe car
Pa's a sap
Ma is as selfless as I am
May a moody baby doom a yam?
Ah Satan sees Natasha
No devil lived on
Lonely Tylenol
Not a banana baton
No "x" in "Nixon"
O, stone, be not so
O Geronimo, no minor ego
"Naomi", I moan
"A Toyota's a Toyota"
A dog, a panic in a pagoda
Oh, no! Don Ho!
Nurse, I spy gypsies -- run!
Senile felines
Now I see bees I won
UFO tofu
We panic in a pew
Oozy rat in a sanitary zoo
God! A red nugget! A fat egg under a dog!
Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog
