Postby Paul Gordon » December 16th, 2009, 10:30 pm

Dear All,

Can anyone offer an update on J.C's health problems? My thoughts are with him, his family and friends during the festive season and beyond...

Thanks, Paul Gordon

He's going through treatment and therapy that will determine how long he has to live and what his quality of life will be like during that time. I've heard he's resting comfortably now.

As many of you know, I've been working with JC Wagner to schedule some time for an interview for the Spirit of Magic podcast. I spoke with JC today and he's doing very well. He just completed his third course of chemotherapy, but was most excited by his scheduled appearance at the Magic Castle this week.

Awesome choice Richard. I was so thrilled to see he's doing his set at the Castle when the announcement was emailed to members ... too cool.

I was at the opening castle show Friday night. Wild ovation to start. Standing ovation at the finish. A great show! J.C, was in excellent form.

It should be noted that this was not an easy audience to impress. An All-Star turnout of magicians to see the show.

My chat with JC went live yesterday. Enjoy! A nice prelude to what is certain to be a great profile in the next Genii! http://bit.ly/dsEGb4

The interview with J.C. was one of the best yet. It contains enough advice and history that it could have been a marketed lecture. I look forward to the next Genii.

Mr. Wagner is really one of the good guys in magic. Saw him at Magic Island and he was very kind to sit down with me (with Bob Knigge) in between shows. He blew my mind with his killer estimation work--really amazing stuff!

Great article, Richard!

Saturday night/Sunday morning, 21 March;

Got to see J.C. working the bar in San Diego. Half, to three-quarters of the Magic-Con attendees went out to see him.

It was all I remember from my days as a drunken sailor in San Diego many, many years ago. J.C. was simply wonderful.

J.C. truly is one of magic's greats. I saw him lecture many years ago and he was incredible. I then say him again a couple of years ago at the Little Club and he was nice enough to buy me a drink. I was then fortunate enough to spend some time with J.C. last year at the GGG and he completely floored me with three great routines which he then gracioulsy shared. J.C. is the man and I wish him all the best as he battles his illness.
