Classic force

Postby Umpa Duze » February 9th, 2010, 4:38 am

Hi,
I want to learn the classic force and wonder if you can recommend a good VHS/DVD to get me started. Also, any advice you might have about who I can talk to about putting the finishing touches together once I master the basics, would also be appreciated.

Thanks,
Umpa Duze

Beyond what's easily available via google search -

the ritual with salamanders and batwings has been rumored effective.

The World's Greatest Magic series has a DVD dedicated to the classic force.

Instructions from Daryl, R. Paul Wilson and Michael Ammar.

Once you get the basic instruction you just have try it with hundreds of spectators. It's more of a knack than a slight.

Paul Gertner once put out a small booklet called Forcing a Card in the Classic Manner. That info is now on a DVD from Paul along with several other forces. At paulgertner.com. Paul does a great routine with the classic force that is in Steel and Silver.

I recommend Paul Green's DVD on the subject.

A tip I used when learning the classic force was to ask the spectator to touch a card (instead of pick a card). This allows you use an out, such as an outjog, strip out and double turnover, if you miss the force.

Do it behind your back - that breaks down all psychological barriers. I teach it in one of my books. HL.

The best classic force I've been on the receiving end for was by Paul Daniels.

Right, Richard - the Reputation-Makers section of The Classic Collection, Volume 2. No earth-shaking bit of business, but I've alway found it easier to "classic force" behind my back, and - it looks better to the layman. H.

Incidentally, Richard, did I tell you that you did a great job with your magic book (Knack) for the public. You had a good teacher?!?! Kidding. Best - HARRY L.

Yes, Harry, thanks.
