Santa brought me the new Batman Vault. :) Plus a book on Hammer films and a new book on Universal Horror Films. Oh, and a big old box of chocolates (he says, patting his tummy).

What did you get?

Some needed clothing plus the Paul Harris True Astonishments set. The Taschen book and Beating a Dead Horse were joys to receive, but not strictly speaking Christmas gifts.

Taschen book from the wife.

Most magical thing, though, was the reaction of my three year old son to the half eaten cookie and the empty glass of milk.

There was an article in the New York Times about belief in Santa, and one of the interesting things some of the psychologists said was that physical evidence of cookies and milk having been consumed holds great weight in the mind of the child. It's tangible "proof."

Shadow statue by Graffiti (been looking for it for years) but wasn't strictly for Christmas, but three days earlier for my birthday.

Christmas was a Persian rug for the dining room and one of John Riggs' wonderful little devices.

I, too, got the Batman Vault  along with yet another Batman coffee mug  Batman has been an ongoing theme in my Christmas gifts for years now. And my boys (currently ages 3,2 and 1) scored some Batman swag, too.

Few years ago I got a Leg Lamp from the Christmas Story movie. If that lamp isn't the definition of "it's not something I would get for myself ... but I like it." I don't know what is. The only other time I've ever seen one in someone's window is a house about 15 miles from me that's right next to a funeral home. I have to think it makes a lot of mourners smile.

It's funny, magic stuff isn't usually something I think about for Christmas. That's for the other 364 days of the year.

It was the first thing my 5 year old checked and reported back to us even before he looked for gifts.

I received the Taschen book as well, and it was a huge surprise - literally. A few gift cards, some banana bread, a few clothes and a tie.

What I enjoyed most, was spending the time visiting friends and some family at nine homes on Christmas day, passing out a little Joy, sharing some surprising moments and enjoying tremendous food and spirits. Today, had another nice dinner with dear friends at a beautiful spot in downtown Boston, relaxing by the fire, overlooking the Public Garden.

All around, I received warm and comforting moments that I will treasure.

I hope your holiday was as rewarding.

Older movies on DVD Batman with Adam West - The Great Escape and War Of the Worlds with Gene Barry. I like the classics I also got the Cincinnati Kid with a feature of Jay Ose on it in a movie short The Cincinnati kid plays according to Hoyel.

Jay Ose Reminds me of Jack Pyle in the way they both worked.

No magic, magic books or DVDs but then again I don't buy that much magic these days.

Happy Holidays.

Some books, some clothes, some dvds, some cash. The best thing was handprints from my three and six year olds. My son also checked the cookies and said wide-eyed, "They're gone!"

I got some lovely towels,a couple of movies, the tommy cooper joke book,( which has an interesting opening chapter on tommys writers by the way) some chocolates, Naked Lady cufflinks, a canvas picture for my wall that says "THIS IS WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS".. An Old man puppet, some beers, several lovely jumpers, and a few other things. But the best thing i got, was the satisfaction that I had managed to give everybody something as a gift, that they actually wanted. The nieces and Nephews in particular. How I managed to select gifts for them all, that they had asked Santa for.. And nobody else, I will never know. My niece in particular was close to teers, she was so happy.

and thats what Christmas is all about for me.

My wife got us tickets to see Ricky Jay. Woo hoo. Much better living in LA than in Amarillo Texas, although I am still waiting for Santa to bring me some good news about the new job I asked for, second year in a row I asked for that one unfortunatley. I can't wait for 2010 and some good luck on the job front. Missing out on the Taschen for now, ugh! Peace and a great 2010 to all.
Joe
