small, hand held gimmicks
Hey folks,
I am in search of resources for collections of small gimmicks, for a research project I am doing.
If you have a large collection, or know who might (US or Overseas), please let me know here.
I am looking for odd little gimmicks.....pulls, holders, clips and other devices, along the line of those in the photos in Ottakar Fischer's Illustrated Magic.
I am especially looking for one of a kind, home-made gimmicks.
thank for any leads.
best,
carney

Hi John,
Did you check with Tim Felix when you were in town? Who knows what he may have in his "library".

John, our pal Ray Goulet has a very extensive collection/museum, that is loaded with one-of's and smaller stuff. Might want to give him a shout.

Very cool. I stopped off in Watertown at his place often in the 70s running between Albany NY and Boston. Nice man. Good vibes.

If gravity hold-outs count, I have half a dozen different models. Some hand-made, some fancier. Lots and lots of ends. Don't know if you want pictures or if these even apply to your research.

Re: small, hand held gimmicks
An unusual home made pull was described in one of Bruce Elliots books. At an auto parts store buy a rubber cap of the type that goes over the nipples on a distributor. Nowadays I don't know how easily these are found. You attach the small diameter end to a length of elastic as a normal pull. The shape and flexibility of the rubber allows vanishing of a variety of things. I also recall a neat trick where you'd change 5 pennies to 1 nickle using this device.
I have mine somewhere, but I'm not giving it up :)

John,
I have many small gimmicks, most don't what they are for, and if you would like them, I'd be glad to donate them to your cause. Maybe you can find an answer for many of them. Let me know! Don Wilson plusmagic@sbcglobal.net (530)913-1485.
