The original apears to be George Schindler's "Sealed Surprise", which George sells via Showbiz magic.

After that, people have performed either that method, or their own improvements or variations. Some are commercially available, and most are not. Sean Farquar's is not.

Beyond the obvious use of something to serve as a slide, it's really down to the cellophane and orgami (and maybe something sticky)- so what's the biggie?

The Schindler item appeared before 1980 just at the time the Jennings coin into beercan was published.

As to routines - aside from the obvious, trite, cliche and mostly unworkable theme of "time travel" which most simply can't pull off ... it's not a trivial sell and you might want to start by sending them a sealed deck which you accept from them and leave on the table - using Gertner's Gravity Switch or similar to get the work done when the time comes. And yes that still leaves the basic theme and hooks for your routine blank but hey it's your act and only you know what works for your audiences when you perform.
