December Genii is in the mail! Look out for Aaron Fisher.
Our printer managed to get our December issue into the mail on Friday November 8, so many of you will receive it before the Thanksgiving holiday. Of course, by then I will be just about finished working on the February issue.
The December issue features Aaron Fisher on the cover and five tricks and sleights that are exclusive to Genii and do not appear in "The Paper Engine."
We also have a new illusion by Paul Osborne and Ade Duval's never-before-published billiard ball routine.
Let me know what you think!

Let's talk turkey! Looking forward to devouring the December issue when it arrives. Sounds like another terrific one. We Genii readers have much to be thankful for. Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Aaron showed me his handling of Mendoza's 'Throwing the Switch' move that will be featured in the December Genii. If you've ever balked at doing this move before you now have no excuse. I'm not saying the move is easy, just smart. I just scratched my head and said "geez man, why didn't I think of that?".

Ed, the sleight on which all of these types of moves are based was created by Ed Marlo. Mendoza's is one of several variations. Another by Carney (The Versa Switch) etc.

I knew I'd get myself in trouble with that post. I almost said Kenner's 4 for 4 switch.

Do you have a reference for the Marlo move?

Re: December Genii is in the mail! Look out for Aaron Fisher.
There was no mail on Sunday and no mail yesterday because of
Veterans day, but hopefully it will be here this afternoon!
I ran home on Tuesday and waited by the mailbox, but nothing came.
Waited there until Wednesday, 11/13 and got it !!!!! ;)
Now I can't wait to see Aaron Fisher's lecture here on December 3 in Sterling,VA !

Wow, Christmas came very, very early. The December issue arrived safely in Lombard, IL (a suburb of Chicago) on 11/12. This time my Genii arrived without a ripped plastic wrap or big scratch on the cover.

Aaron's issue plunked down in Minneapolis on 11/13. I really appreciated the thorough credits and references in Aaron's trick section. The Paper Engine is next on my reading list!

Re: December Genii is in the mail! Look out for Aaron Fisher.
It arrived in Vienna, Virginia, yesterday (Wednesday, 11/13/02).
I really appreciate the Aaron Fisher material. Having worked through some of The Paper Engine, I must say that the sleights and tricks in the Genii profile give me a much clearer understanding of Aaron's concept of using gravity to soften card sleights.
I don't know whether I'll use his new Backslip Force, but I'll work with it in order to gain a better control of gravity's force on a single card.

I am stunned to say that I have recieved my issue. Light years ahead of the usual arrival time.
I have only had time to skim it, but it looks like great reading.

The December Genii has just arrived in sunny San Jose, CA. The article on Aaron Fisher looks great. I have been attempting "Ambitious Graduate" which appears a lot easier than Kenner's S.W.E. Shift--Good luck.
Re: December Genii is in the mail! Look out for Aaron Fisher.
Arrived in San Mateo, CA on Friday Nov. 15.

Aaron Fisher was grinning in my mailbox on 11/15. As with every issue, what's not to treasure? This one goes on the shelf next to my first edition of Aaron's book.
Re: December Genii is in the mail! Look out for Aaron Fisher.
Got my issue today. Always a pleasure. Thanks! I'm espcially enjoying the limited edition DVD found enclosed. Since you only gave out 99, I feel truly lucky! Thanks again.

Happy Birthday to me! What a present -- Aaron arrives in my mailbox in Baltimore, 11/16, four days before the usual average of the 20th of the month.
And I never knew he had that much chest hair. See -- get out of Bawlamer, hang with Larry Jennings long enough, and card tricks will make a man outta ya!

Re: December Genii is in the mail! Look out for Aaron Fisher.
Finally -- where did this topic go? My issue arrived yesterday. Aaron's article is just awesome. This material could easily have been the highlights of the book (and it would be interesting to know why it wasn't in there). The color photos are terrific and up the ante on the photos vs. drawings debate (I usually side with drawings, but these are really nice.). Also fascinating how much can be done with gravity, and the Bill Malone story is very funny. The quality of the magic reminds me of the Steranko issues. (These tricks are actually better, but Steranko had the major style thing going.)
And much more -- David Regal's first book review section*, one of Eugene Burger's best pieces in a while, etc. Still more for me to read, but what a nice start.
*I love Ahead of the Pack as well, but "Remote View" has a flaw: you are likely to get a false hit before a real one. Lewis Jones sent me the complete mathematical probabilities on that. It's still a cool idea.
