Absolutely the worst magic movie made ever is Get to Know Your Rabbit with Tom Smothers and Orson Welles. What awful crap.

That looks pretty bad.
I do think I might change my name to Krell Darius, though.

The funny thing is that it may turn a profit in the end! Armand Asante? Gotta see it now!

Is it worse than Terror Train?

Nobody's seen it yet. That said, at least Terror Train had Jamy Lee Curtis in it. This doesn't even hold that meager promise.

Shade is not a "magic" movie, but a movie about cheats. I'd think that you would have recognized that, Cugel, since it's one of your fields of interest.

While watching the trailer, kept thinking that I'd seen Billy Zane play a killer magician before...
Hours later, it popped into my head... "Well Baked Hams" episode of Tales from the Crypt
I dunno the name Krell Darius though... sounds like the Latin name for something whales would eat.

And I'm certainly not alone. A great deal of your readership has an interest in that area. I suppose that's why you published a huge cover story on it in the magic magazine you edit? Also, I seem to recall it was full of magic tricks (some very good ones), magician advisers (and cameos) and references to magical figures.
I'd call it a magic movie.
Rounders. Now there's a good movie about scufflers.

Re: Trash Magic Movie Coming Out
I didn't say you were alone. I know full well (better than you, in fact--bet you didn't think that was possible) that many card magicians are also interested in cheating and scams. I even knew that we did a cover story on Shade in Genii.
Shade is not a "magic movie" or a movie mostly about magicians.
Its irrelevant if magicans were involved in the making of it or have cameos in it.
It's a movie about card cheats. But you're not one to ever leave an argument alone, so that will be MY last comment on the subject.

I completely agree with you: it's a movie about card cheats.
That may not be my last comment. I'd hate to limit my options.

I think I may be agreeing with Cugel. Think about it:
The climax was telegraphed from the beginning. The characters were thinly drawn, stereotypical and hardly compelling. The scripting amused the writer more than the audience. And the storytelling was laborious and progressed at a snail's pace.
Sounds like most magic acts I've seen.
Conclusion: Magic movie.

Absolutely wrong... I'd take Shade over most magic I've seen.
