Speaking of Tenyo - Does anyone know when Lubor Fiedler will next be releasing a trick through Tenyo? The guy is a genius, and I am always sad when the latest batch of tricks dosen't feature something by him...

You didn't miss it: I didn't do it. Didn't think the tricks were very good this time.
I wouldn't expect any new items from Lubor. Tenyo seems to have given up on him for reasons I don't understand.

I have to disagree, Moo. I think all of them have virtues. Bob Ostin's updated "Synchro Boxes" is a real-world worker. And Toru Suzuki's "Magical Door" combines a brilliant method with a damned good pair of tricks.

Re: No Tenyo Article?
I read somewhere Tenyo is coming out with a new line of higher-quality versions of some of their existing products. Any info on this Richard? (or anyone)
Re: No Tenyo Article?
Is there anything on this web?
http://www.tenyo.co.jp/magic_en/ or this one: http://www.tenyoelite.com/products.php
I think that Steve Brooks is doing something with Tenyo products, but I am not sure what it is....Does this have anything to do with his plans for a big announcement that he dropped some time ago?

Re: No Tenyo Article?
Bob Ostin's matchbox trick is brilliant ... when it was possible to do it with real matches which existed as everyday objects people recognized. Doing the trick with plastic boxes with odd ridges in a world where matchboxes are an oddity makes it far less miraculous.
I didn't think much of the magical door, either, but it's a work of genius compared to the growing nose picture.

1. I have seen real matchboxes made out of plastic.
2. In other parts of the world, matchboxes are still in common use (and Tenyo is not an American company, nor do they restrict their sales to the United States).
3. Even in this country, while matchboxes are no longer common, everyone past puberty will recognize them.
4. Who says the little plastic boxes must be defined as matchboxes?
As for the door trick, I showed it to one of the most astute magicians I know, and it both fooled and delighted him. Different horses for different courses...
Re: No Tenyo Article?
Talking of Peter Laughran, one of the Tenyo elite partners, has anybody purchased his new levi?.......looks good on video and the blurb!

Dropped some time ago? Nope. Over a year ago Jason Palter, Peter Loughran and myself formed JPS MAGIC STUDIOS LTD which is located in Canada.
We then set out with our Tenyo Elite project. Months were spent advertising the SECRET PROJECT or as opie said "big announcement" in which each month a jigsaw puzzle piece was revealed both in MAGIC magazine and on the JPS MAGIC STUDIOS LTD website. Earlier this month the final piece of the puzzle was revealed and magicians everywhere now knew about Tenyo Elite.
So no opie, nothing was dropped.
My partners and I are extremely excited about this project, we grew up with Tenyo effects and like most people always wanted to see them constructed out of something other than plastic.
Well, in conjuction with Tenyo of Japan that is what we are doing - taking a great product and making it a bit more sturdy. ;)
Finally, contrary to any possible gossip or rumors, though Tenyo has granted us the exclusive worldwide license to manufacture and sell the new line - they are not financially involved - the burden for making this happen rests with ourselves. :)
I hope this sets the record straight and I look forward to seeing many of you at the 2009 World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas come March 1st. Look for our Tenyo Elite booth where we will be showcasing the first four effects of the new line.

For all practical purposes Lubor Fiedler has left magic. Only a miracle can make him release any new trick.

Re: No Tenyo Article?
That would be a real shame. He is the closest that magic has to an Albert Einstein. I have heard (over the years) that 'The Miracle Factory' are working on a large compilation of his ideas. So, hopefully the future will see more Lubor Fiedler magic and not less. Speaking of super smart Europeans, I can't wait for 'The Miracle Factory' to release the Gaetan Bloom books as well...

Re: No Tenyo Article?
Compiling Lubor's past work would certainly make sense. Not everything he wrote in German has been translated to English. And his contributions are dispersed. A true genius of magic. Well, a true genius. He made inventions in other fields as well.

I think that opie was using the word "dropped" to mean "mentioned", not "quit"...?
Anyway, I'm interested to see the Blue Crystal.
On a slightly related note, I dug out my year-old Japanese Tenyo version of Bich's Spreadwave the other day only to find that the cheap plastic-coated stock that it's printed on now refuses to spread properly!
Rather than mess around with fanning powder etc., I painstakingly reproduced the Japanese Spreadwave deck with a black marker on blank Bicycle cards, and it looks great!
As I own the original Japanese version which has become unusable, I have no ethical qualms about making another myself.
Re: No Tenyo Article?
Thanks Henley, but let us not explain what I say; it will make people think I know what I am talking about....tsk tsk....
But seriously, I was intentionally ambiguous, to find out what the big announcement was all about.... Don't you just love it when people say, "Guess what?" I don't!!
I am actually glad to see the new Tenyo venture.........

Re: No Tenyo Article?
I believe Lubor is getting better and will make a comeback to magic. What a great day that will be. His stuff is amazing.
Re: No Tenyo Article?
So, where are the webs which list ALL Tenyo items? I have been searching for about a half hour and cannot seem to come up with a complete list. I am also interested in any other price lists of collectible magic. Any helpful links appreciated....
PS: Steve, I certainly was not bad mouthing your venture and hope it is doing well. Your display at the Magic Seminar was a nice intro to the business. Good luck....However, I really am disappointed that you won't let me back on the Magic Cafe. tsk tsk....
