Help me recall a John Bannon (?) effect

I'm going over my old repertoire notes and I am looking for the method of a (I believe) John Bannon sandwich effect where two cards are inserted in a deck and then come together to sandwich a prior selection. Anyone got the title or the basic procedure...I am sure it will come back to me once my memory is triggered.

A pair of red jacks and a pair of black jacks inserted together into the pack seek out and sandwhich 2 selections, one found between eack pair of jacks.

That's not it. Maybe it's a JC Wagner sandwich effect. I remember the two locator cards are in the deck. You run through the deck to show how the two locator cards are well separated then by a magical squeeze the deck is re-spread to show how the selection is sandwiched. It involves knowing the selection (forced?) and placing it near/next to one of the locators. The second locator is stolen from the deck (hofzinzer side steal?)to slip it to the bottom. I will keep looking through my notes, books and vids. any help is much appreciated.

Marty Nash has that effect in his "Jacks or Better" routine. (Found in the lecture notes of that name or within the effect "The Earl's Dilemma" in the book Sleight Unseen--third of his trilogy by Stephen Minch).

Can we summarize like this ?

Performer removes two aces from the pack and places them face up on table. A spectator peeks at a card. The two aces are now placed in widely separated parts of the pack. A few cuts (optional) and the Aces are now together with a face down card between them. This card turns out to be the one previously peeked at.

No cuts at all in the Nash version.

I wrote "optional" because you can do it without cut(s).

In one of the first versions described, there are cuts (in the 1950s).

I figured that the cut(s) replaces an expedient (and therefore more "magical")--but more difficult--move. That's what I was thinking in regard to "optional" cuts. The Nash version does not even allow for "optional" cuts.

I'm not sure if we're helping "magicbar" or not.......

Unfortunatly I haven't Sleight Unseen ergo I don't know the Nash's method.

The first Genii I see a reference to Nash' Lecture Notes "Jacks or Better" is in a 1979 issue.

Jacks or Better is their title. The notes are not dated, but 1978 or '79 is about right.

I actually have an extra set of them around here somewhere.

Magicbar's description sounds like Roy Walton's "Pinkerton's Ladies", from an early issue of Penumbra magazine, and I think David Britland may have had something similar with two jacks that was published online somewhere. The progressive sandwich idea is also found in Larry Jennings' "Searchers" from Richard's Almanac and Aaron Fisher's "Search & Destroy" from The Paper Engine.

Now, if someone gets Talisman, Vol. 1, N 16, June 1970, can he check if Hideo Kato's Kato on Trapped is a solution for an Instant Sandwich and if there are cuts or not.

Great posts everyone...I went through my notes/books and the effect is "The Revelation" I orinially found in JC's Commercial Magic book p. 143. It is a sandwich effect and the two cards do visibly come from diff parts of the deck in a squeeze motion but the placement of the finder cards is the unusual part I couldn't remember. It's very good with lots of audience participation and they feel they did it themselves.

Now I suppose I can check out the refs to the other routines you guys made in the above posts.
