Re: Ganson Teach-In Series
I'm fairly sure it was just called The Endless Chain, with the usual Ganson Teach In leader. Pink cover, if I recall. Unfortunately it seems to have gone AWOL from by bookshelves :(

Re: Ganson Teach-In Series
Thanks to Ian for his clarification... It is likely that The Endless Chain belongs in the list...
Several titles were produced by Supreme in that same format but were not technically titles in this series.
I have found more information (thanks to Doug Atkinson: http://magicref.tripod.com/magref/magchain.htm) that refers to The Endless Chain pamphlet thus:
Ayling, Will (with Lewis Ganson, Fred Lowe, and Rex Taylor): The Endless Chain. Moves, ideas, patter presentations and routines. Photographed by Will Ayling; in the Supreme 'Know-How' series, Bideford, The Supreme Company, 1983, 44 pg.
Yet it also refers to another pamphlet with Ganson's name associated with it in this way:
Brooke, Ken: The Endless Chain. Instructions by Lewis Ganson. Copyright by Harry Stanley "Unique Magic Studio" London W.1.4 pg. A4
It's quite possible that these are essentially the same titles (or that the 1983 title is an expanded version of the Stanley booklet). In either case, Ganson is not referred at the primary author. The time makes it likely and the description would put it in the series, but would love to confirm with an owner...
Anyone got a copy of any of the latter three titles and can confirm their inclusion?

Hmmm, *jogs memory*. It could have been that I had the Supreme version. The layout and style were very typically the same as the other titles I had.

Re: Ganson Teach-In Series
Supreme's 1986 Indexed Catalogue for Books and Publications (Part 2) gives a full list of all 17 Teach-Ins and 3 Know-Hows, which were apparently the same size and format as the Teach-Ins. It says:
"Will Ayling took on the mantle of his friend Lewis Ganson to continue the [Teach-In] series under the banner of "Know-How" books."
The Know-How titles listed are:
Catching a Marked Bullet in the Teeth (by Frank Sinclair)
The Endless Chain (by Will Ayling)
Indian Cups and Balls (by P.K. Ilango)
Catalogue No. 33 (from 1983) announces the Endless Chain book as the first in the series and also lists the Bullet Catching book.
All three of the above also appeared in Supreme's 1985 Book List. I also remember a couple of other titles, which I believe were all by Will Ayling:
Knowing the Rising Cards
Knowing the Egg Bag
Knowing the Ropes
Knowing the Chop Cup
I just tried googling these and you get a lot of hits. One (http://www.magicpromotionclub.ch/Kurzbio%20A.htm, which contains biographies of Will Ayling and many others - in German) gives dates of 1988 for the Egg Bag book and 1991 for the Rising Cards, and you can probably find dates for the others.
Hope this helps. It certainly brought back some memories for me.

Re: Ganson Teach-In Series
Thanks Edwin. It looks like my list is complete for the "Teach-In" series (now I just have to get my hands on "The Sympathetic Silks" book)..
I thought the "Know-How" listing was just faulty memory, but now I see it is not!
Maybe Joe can update the magi-pedia page to reflect the findings?
Thanks for your help,
Andrew

Re: Ganson Teach-In Series
Okay Joe:
I finally logged in and updated the page to what I saw as the most accurate list so far...
This is a great way to collaborate and make a (reasonably) accurate list.
Also, many of the booklets have multiple copyright dates. It is perhaps best to use the original copyright date and refer to later printings in parenthesis; e.g. - 1987 (1990). Although academically the earliest date is most significant, the number of printings and the corresponding dates can be of interest to the collectors.
Thanks for all your help guys (Are you still there Van?) ;o)

There's one for sale here:
http://illusionsolution.com/index.php
If you enter ["Will Ayling" "Knowing the"] as a search string in Google you get a lot of hits for all of them, and some (e.g. the eBay ones) give publication details and tables of contents. The Chop Cup and Egg Bag books can be found at http://magicref.tripod.com/books.htm .
The Magicpedia page is a great place for this information. I don't think "Rink's Rope & Rings" was part of the series though (see the image here , along with lots of other interesting looking books), and "Phoney" may well have been a separate manuscript too.
