I will be in DC for the last 2 weeks in May on business and was hoping somebody could fill me in on some good magic spots in the area (Shops, Bars, Resturaunts, Shows, etc.) I will then be attending Jamy Ian Swiss' Card Clinic 3-5 June! So I'm looking foward to taking it all in.
Thanks

Two great shops left in the DC area:
Barry's Magic Shop in Wheaton, MD (if you are staying in DC, you can get there on the subway. The shop is very close to the Wheaton Station.)
www.barrysmagicshop.com
Denny & Lee Magic Studio located in Baltimore (about an hour from DC).

First of all, you're going to love card clinic. I'll be there for the public show on Friday night.
Something else you might what to work in is Ricky Jay's show at The Studio Theater . Click link and then "Buy Tickets", then "May 2005".

Re: Magic in DC
JR,
I know of a couple of locals doing restaurant work in the DC area (although you'll need a car, as both work in the suburbs).
Dave Shepherd works in Northern Virginia:

Eric Henning works in Laurel, north of DC:

Bob Sheets, Alain Nu and Mark Phillips put together "Wednesday Wizardry" up in Gaithersburg, also a slight haul from inner DC. As I understand it, their spring season (not posted yet) will run all the way through to May 25th, so you should be able to catch a show.

Hope this helps!

I am at Mama's Italian Restaurant on Wednesday evenings, and actually you could get there via a subway trip (Orange line to Vienna) followed by a brief cab ride. The restaurant's about two miles from the Metro.
I would be happy to see you (and any other Card Clinicians) at Mama's. I did Card Clinic in Santa Barbara in April 03; you are in for a treat.
Dave

Dave, superb website! The design is secondary to the magic, very nice concept!

Andy Baroch [that's me] performs magic and mentalism at Clyde's Restaurant at Mark Center and Shooter McGee's in Alexandria, Virginia. Come on by.
