Does anyone out there have a complete listing of Goldstein's books and contributions to magical publications? Max - have you got a text file of everything.

I thought that you were in the practice of creating (essentially) "custom" lecture notes for different groups: With different effects as well as different covers (as oppossed to only different covers, like some people we know). Then there is every magazine contribution you have made...

Could we get that separated by Maven and Goldstein?

I remember Max making a statement of the precise number of effects he published. This would suggest that indeed he keeps record of what he puts out.

May I suggest to do such max-ography as an ebook.

For what it's worth, I think Phil Goldstein's Focus is a great book.

Mike, you're absolutely right. Focus was the first book I really studied when I decided to get serious about card magic. For my money, Max's "No-Gaff Differential" is a lovely, lovely piece of magic, and I perform it whenever I get the chance. It's part of my core offering.

Yes, a Maven bibliography, indeed!

There is such a "list" of Mr. Goldstein's earlier contributions in an older Genii (July 1981? I believe; I'm presently away from my files) featuring a complete list spanning 15 or 20 years. An update is sorely needed and would be very valuable.

(Mr. Maven, on the subject of contributions, I also agree with Mr. Cookman on what a slendid work Focus is and thought it would be wonderful, since Focus primarily was your "best-of" within a fifteen year period- 1975 to 1990, if the next "best-of" Phil Goldstein might appear in 2005?)

Dustin, technically Mr. Goldstein is the MasterMind who creates all of Mr. Maven's material. Consequentially, Mr. Maven is the genius who performs all of Mr. Goldstein's creations- brilliantly I might add. So, all publishing credits go to Phil Goldstein.

Mr. mr.e, of course Max has the list! Max would be the ONLY person in the universe who can have the list! And knowing of Max's propensity towards meticulous research... Max has the list.

But, be prepared- when you do receive the bibliography- it is many, many... many pages.

Call me a conspiracy theorist but the mild mannered author, Phil Goldstein is never around when superperformer Max Maven is in the room. It's so erie! In fact if you put Mr. Goldstein's picture up against Max Maven's picture, the only difference is a pair of sunglasses that Phil Goldstein wears. Max Maven can see things blindfolded so he would never need sunglasses. That how you tell them apart!

The Maven/Goldstein bibliography issue of Genii
was in fact the very first Genii issue
I ever bought.

At the time I thought it was the dullest
magazine I had ever read in my life.

Luckily I perservered and have every one since then.

Time for an update.

Questions for Max Maven
Some years ago the late Jim Cooper brought back from a stint as advisor on gambling at the Calgary Stampede a card marking method which had stumped the RCMP for a long time. He told that to, as far as I know, just one person. After Jim's death that person having no use himself for the method told it to you. My questions:
Have you ever used the method?
As far as you know has anyone in magic other than yourself used the method?
I have been asked about the method several times and have told them to ask you. Did any of them ever get with you?
