"Divided Cards"?

On page 89 of the 1931 edition of Hofzinser. the author refers to "divided cards."

My immediate reaction is top half one card, bottom another, or left side/right side, or a diaginal split.

There is a young man now making cards in the Maryland area that does outstanding work, I spoke with him last night and he was going to research it from his end. The "transparent card he made me is excellant -- I just ordered a few more.

Anybody got the answer?

I know I'm showing my ignorance by asking, but inquireing minds NEED to know.

Divided cards, which existed long before Hofzinser (as did double-faced cards), have almost always been a diagonal split from (if the card is face up) the outer right corner down to the lower left. In other words, from one non-index corner to the other.
There HAVE been longitudinal divided cards that were split straight down the middle (such as those Marlo used for his famous version of McDonald's Aces where the backs of the cards are all seen), as well as latitudinal divided cards which go across the back from left to right (such as those in Henry Hardin's Peerless Monte Christo Cards from the turn of the century).
Generally, however, divided cards are split on the diagonal with good reason: the natural way to spread cards is to fan them, and a divided split gives you the greatest leeway without fear of flashing.
One thing to mention: the one gimmicked card (aside from the "Hofzinser Transparent Card")that Hofzinser does seem to have invented is the double-backed card.

I will vouch for the food at Georges but the foord I am not sure about. Heck I am not sure I trust a FORD, now CHEVY, Jeep, or Harley now were talking. :p
