Mind, Myth, & Magic

Postby George Olson » June 22nd, 2002, 7:55 pm

I came across this interesting series this morning in an antique store. It's 23 or 24 volumes, it looks like a "Time/Life" type series.

My question is it is worth $25.00? I did not have the time to peruse it in depth, but the `st volume looked interesting. Each book is about a half inch thick with tons of pictures.

Just curious!

Thanks,

George

George,

I bought the set when they first came out. They have alot of unavailable pictures and stories in them.

Are the volumes $25 per book or the whole set for $25? Each book was $14.99 + ship when originally published.

Forgot to mention, the whole set was known as the Time-Life 'Mysteries of the Unknown'.

It is an excellent series, especially if you research that sort of thing alot. Excellent pictures and a well balanced look at the subjects. There are actually 32 books in the set as well as a Master Index. I myself am still missing "Alien Encounters", "Earth Energies", "Eastern Mysteries", "Mystic Quests", "The Mystical Year", "Search for Immortality", "Time and Space" and "Witches and Witchcraft".

I still comb used bookstores in search of those particular ones in order to have a complete set, something that apparently few have done.

PSIncerely Yours,
Paul Alberstat

Paul,

I have about 16 volumes at home and originally had them on EBay for auction. I can check which one's I have and be willing to sell them to you individually.

Email me at terry01@mikrotec.com and I can let you know what I may have.

Paul
I kind of screwed up The Title is actually:

"MAN, Myth, & Magic, An Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Supernatural"
Editor Richard Cavendish
Publisher Marshall Cavendish Corporation, New York
Copyright 1970 BPC Publishing Co
Manufactured in Italy
Library of Congress Catalog No. 70-141143

It is 24 Volumes Including Index

I've skimed every Volume, it's really kind of fascinating.

For those interested, (at the time of this posting) there are various singles, incomplete sets, and even a mint 33 volume set on ebay.

Just go to the eBay search engine and use "Mysteries of the Unknown" as the criteria.
