There is a wonderful BBC radio show which recently aired, about 30 minutes long. Some great old audio of Dunninger, The Piddingtons, Chan Canasta, Romark (sp?) the Remarkable (funny), and Uri Geller. Even a somewhat unfavorable comment on David Blaine towards the end.
It was written and compiled by Ian Keable and David Britland, and there are excerpts of an interview with Mark Salem (sp?) and Leslie Piddington (who spoke at last year's LA Conference on Magic History).
Mentalism is not my cup of tea, but I really enjoyed listening to this bit of history.
Go to the following link and look under "M" and click on "Men of Mystery." Enjoy! Clay

BBC Radio Show on Old-Time Mentalists
Re: BBC Radio Show on Old-Time Mentalists
I listened to this program on "Real Player" on my computer so you may need that. But perhaps Windows Media Player will play it as well. C.

Thanks! This was wonderful. Great especially to hear Mrs. Piddington and Chan Canasta.

Enjoyed the program as well. Good the way Geller and Blaine were given a nod.(properly so)
Broadcasting in England seems more nationalized and regulated...it would be interesting to know if any British stations carried mentalist/psychic Q&A programs, like U.S. stations did, (1927-1934) before the FCC pushed them off the air.

For those who may not have checked in on the GF recently, a reminder to check out this BBC special. So long as you are a history buff, you'll like this even if mentalism is not your thing. Clay

I checked out the BBC website and your eyesight is just fine. Alas, looks like the BBC removed the program - guess they only keep it up for a limited amount of time. A pity, as it made for very interesting listening. :(
