I just obtained the first edition of this book. In the acknowledgements it states that this was to be a trilogy. Were there volumes 2 and 3? Thanks...Brian B

Do a search on this, Brian. I believe Richard answered thre question some time back.

But briefly, Volume 1 of "Sawa's Library of Magic" is the only volume.

That's really unfortunate, because I really enjoyed the book and was looking forward to any sequel. One of the last Genii had a Magicana section on Sawa and it showed us that it is indeed unfortunate that Richard couldn't make the other books.

I agree with Yves! Volume One was a terrific book, both aesthetically and in terms of content.

IT'S NOT FAIR, DAMMIT!!!

David and Yves, I agree with both your comments. Brian, since you just bought the book I want to call your attention to a trick in it I got a lot of millage with. It's called the " Strolling cow aces ",a very different four ace trick .Sort of you might say a peogessive ace assembly. Look it up, it's neat.....Mike

Totally agree with you fellas! This book is overlooked, with powerful and beautiful magic that is wonderfully constructed. Well written, nicely laid out and beautifully illustrated.

If you like this book, you'll probably also dig the Takagi book and 5X5 Japan book, as well.

You'll also enjoy New Magic of Japan and the 5th New York Magic Symposium collection (the one with the yellow cover).

I did a search (as Matt Field suggested in 2003) and could not come up with an answer for why this was never extended out to the trilogy as originally intended.

Perhaps Richard can give us the story in this thread?
