Erdnase FOUND! New book to be published this year!

Postby Richard Kaufman » April 1st, 2005, 8:18 am

I'm pleased to announce that by a stroke of good fortune, I have learned the identity of S.W. Erdnase, the author of Expert at the Card Table.
Not only that, but the family member who contacted me also provided two photographs of the man as well as his diary. In addition, we also have a copy of Expert at the Card TAble with the author's own annotations, written ten years after publication, in 1912, in the margins.
All of this will allow Kaufman and Company to produce a book by Christmas that will answer everyone's questions as to why the author chose his particular pseudonym (his real name is NOT Andrews), and who actually wrote most of the book. Watch for ads in Genii later this year.

Is it true you'll be collaborating on the project with Jeff Busby?

Sounds very exciting.

Hmmm...of course I'm still skeptical given the date of this announcement, but if you aren't pulling our legs, then I (along with many others) am VERY interested. Can you provide any more details at this time? Have you shared your serendipitous findings with the other primary researchers on this topic? Inquiring minds...thanks in advance.

Richard is quite serious. In fact, I am Erdnase. I know what you're thinking....how does he look so young? Well that's what the book is about. I am in fact an immortal and only can be killed by having my head removed from my body.

Richard didn't tell you that I found the inventor of the Linking Rings.

The material was uncovered in the National Museum in Iraq last week and the military liason officer doing the inventory emailed me the photos of the rings.

As far as they can tell the date is 200 BC.

I'll see if I can post a photo.

Frankly, I wouldn't believe anything I read today!

OK true or not... April Fools "jokes" are fine. The best one was George Plimton's article in Sports Illustrated about Syd Finch--a guy that could pitch a baseball faster than anyone ever, etc. etc. It was incredibly well written and really, really faked out millions of folks.

The worst one I had pulled on me was an Airport Security person almost causing me to miss a flight with a BOGUS claim that my camera bag had to be confiscated. I won't go into the details, but in retrospect, I should have skipped the flight and had the agent ARRESTED.

BUT TODAY... The Magic Apple annonced Lance Burton was flying in to Burbank, to come to the store to sign a new release DVD.

I left this morning and did some chores, had lunch, etc. then headed to the Apple Store.

OK it was April Fools joke... BUT, to me a joke is fine, but something that makes one drive half way across Los Angeles, at $2.50 a gallon for gas is NOT FUNNY.

Sorry fella, but you just lost a lot of credibility with me.

Richard,

You had me up until the part where you said you'd have the book out by Christmas. HA!

Actually, Jimmy Hoffa was discovered in the maternity ward of a hospital in New York . . . .

. . . he was directing labor.

What is this "The Magic Apple" of which you speak? Something other than the golden apple that Eris used to start the Trojan War?

Terry, I didn't realize that your remark in the other thread related back to this.

Of course this is an old April Fool's joke from three years ago!

And it has come back to haunt you! HA HA

Won't bust ya chops on the Jennings book anymore as I have the new Revelation and Ackerman Expert stuff to keep me busy for a while.

Not to say I don't want to expand my Jennings library. . .
