Can only think of a fan of say, five cards, followed by five banks of said cards with a ranged choice of number dependant on the choice of card. However, having handed her the deck, she'd have to name the card she's thinking of before naming a number, whereas it sounds like she didn't, so I'm stumped.

How pleasantly frustrating :)

Full deck of cards fanned. No force of any type. It's all about creating a magical moment (as Mr. Berglas would say) and what the spectators see and remember you doing.

Aha, something's ringing bells from the Mind and Magic to do with Reginald Scot but can't begin to think of how that could apply to this effect...

Richard, although I don't recall the specifics, aren't funds usually charged close to, or near the day, the book ships? Looks like Genii deducted funds January 25th.

BTW, what is the current target ship date?

Thanks.

There's a wonderful interview with David Berglas on the EMC site linked to by RK in another post. He discusses some pertinant matters as regards this trick and also some about his approach to making tricks work for audiences.

Sam, target ship date is still the same. Some companies may charge at shipping date, but we're not doing that in this case. I've been around long enough, and have been keeping everyone regularly updated, so that it shouldn't be an issue.

Hello Richard

In anticipation of receiving the Deluxe edition that I pre-ordered, I want to brush-up on my memorized deck.

Before I re-learn my Tamariz stack, I was wondering if your book will provide a specific Berglas stack. In which case, I will wait for that one.

Thank you.

Yes, the book gives a specific stack of David's devising.

Hi Richard,

How's the book coming together? Counting down the days, saving the pennies and just about to order when I saw an advert on magicweek for copies available from David himself at 110, with the enticement of an autographed book plate.

Are you able to confirm whether this offer is genuine please, as I'm just thinking this kind of pre-order scenario would make quite a good scam for anyone posing as David or yourself, given that the page doesn't link to another 'official' site. I know that's the kind of paranoid thing only a magician would consider but better safe than sorry.

Thanks very much

Oli

Of course the ad is genuine.

Layout should start in about a week. That takes a week. Then it's off to the printer, which takes about four weeks. We should be ready to ship by late April, which is near enough our announced date.

Yipeee! I just finished putting in the last of the four proof-reader's corrections to the text.

Now I will reread the entire book, making corrections along the way, and then layout begins in a week.

All of Earle Oakes's illustrations are already scanned.

DVDs are being edited now.

Great news Richard - I might even suggest double-yippee.

What is involved in the layout process?
