Forgive me if this question is in the wrong area. I am looking to buy a copy of David Roths Expert Coin Magic, but I am confused by the different editions available on EBay. Can someone give me a breakdown on the different printings. Is the first edition the one in the slipcase dated 1985? How many printings were there and how can you tell them apart. Thank You..

The only edition with a slipcase is the first edition. Black cloth. No dustjacket.
Second printing had a dustjacket.
Third printing had a deluxe edition in red leather of 100 with red slipcases.

Thanks for the info Mr Kaufman. Can you tell me what year the third printing was done and is that the one where your name is in white at the bottom, rather than in red as on the second printing. Also, was there a more recent reprint done? Thank you.

Yes, there have been more recent reprints done, but I can't recall what color my name was on various printings. Generally, for the purposes of collectors, the only point of interest is what defines a true first printing and edition.

My second printing has a dustjacket but also a slipcase. This was a Robbins printed edition. I bought it directly from you Richard and I think it was a special from you at the time.

The slipcases on that printing were left over from the first printing.
