Hi!
I have Berland's book on Wiztax. Some interesting tricks, but what was it? It was not disclosed in the book and I can't seem to find Wiztax currently available. Any help with the mystery substance would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Tom

It was some sort of double-sided tape.

It was a sticky wax that didn't leave a residue. We have all sorts of sticky globs to choose from today, given away free by those who use them to stick advertisements closed in the mail. I peel them off and save them under my desk in case I ever need to use one for magic.

It was tape, not wax. Though I suspect wax would work just as well. Here are a couple brief descriptions:
"This book covers the use of Wiztax a two sided tape used by magicians."

"Sam Berland called it Wiz-tax, but we call it double stick tape. [...] When these booklets were printed, each had a 2 inch x 3 inch piece of "Wiz-tax" stapled inside the back cover. "

It was used to keep Sam's hairpiece in place.

Ah, carpet tape.
Effect and method are inextricably linked.

I had some and it was not carpet tape--it really was hairpiece tape.

Carpet tape keeps the rug on too.
Re: Wiztax - Sam Berland
Just confirming the above - In Trickshop.com's "Rediscovering Wiztax", the author states, "Sam Berland first discovered an amazing double-sided adhesive “tape” he called, “Wiztax.” What set Wiztax apart from other tacky materials was the fact that it would come “clean” from virtually any surface it came in contact with and then, roll up into a small, easily discardable ball. Just as important, Wiztax left no mark or residue – unlike tape or wax; and it would cling to the hands and fingers"

I remember seeing the description of the book many times and wondered just what Wiztax is. Fascinating! Now I guess I need to find a copy of the book and the correct product! Ha ha!
