Unconventional Magic by Lewis Ganson - which were his lecture notes on first visit to the US. The lecture was comprised, I believe, from submissions to The Gen so not all his own original material. Without checking I have a vague notion of Hen Fetsch name allied to it.
David Hemingway also has a lot of ideas on it - red paper behind the front sheet so pips stand out more for instance

Just checked - it's Tonny Van Dommelen credited not Hen Fetsch

According to the Potter's Index, Edward Bagshawe and D. Dickens were the first to describe a "Card revealed by Paper Tearing" in The Magicien Monthly, Vol. 19, no 5, april 1923, page 62 under the title A Card and Tissue Mystery (Bagshawe) and page 63 under the title An Effective Card Illusion (Dickens).
Van Dommelen's version was first described in The Gen, Vol. 11, no. 8, december 1955, page 238.

David Hemmingway has some work on this in some of his publications.
At the recent magic convention in Dublin, George Bleeks from Belfast did a very funny routine that revealed three different cards using a sheet of newspaper.
