Need Help To Identify Guillotine

Postby codyreese » April 7th, 2015, 11:03 am

This Guillotine has made its way into my possession. I need help to identify a possible maker, any history and maybe a monetary value....

Here is what I know. This was passed down to a friend by his uncle. He said he used to perform during WWII under the name Don Foy, and he had lent this Guillotine to Beckman The Magician.

It has a stamp from The Pikes Place Magic Shop on the back of the picture.

I think its a Lester Lake guillotine, any way to identify builder and give it a value?

I'll be getting it in person this weekend.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

It is clearly a Lester Lake "style" chopper. Thayer published very detailed plans for this piece (and many others) and this looks like it was made from those plans. The shape of the handles, feet, blade and cutouts are almost spot on to those shown.

Might make finding the builder a bit more difficult. Thayer/Owens pretty zealously pushed the idea they were the only authorized builders over the years but clearly many other companies made them.
