Protecting the silk in reel magic

Postby Umpa Duze » May 3rd, 2014, 9:11 pm

Hi All,
I have been practicing the Serpent Silk and have found that the silk near the connection point starts to tear after I have been using it for a while. I have tried a couple of different grades of silk. I stitched some Kevlar thread into the hem which helped some, but I am now trying to come up with a more permanent solution. Has anyone performed this effect with some reinforcing material or other option that solves this problem. I would be very grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks,
Umpa
Cheers,

What comes to mind is you may want to secure a metal rivet at the end of the silk, then paint it to match the silk and not shine. Hope this helps.
