The particular version you're talking about (the same method was used by lance & Kirby) was evolved from a much older idea for Doug Henning so is almost certainly controlled by Jim Steinmeyer; HOWEVER this method can really only be used in a resident show that stays in one theatre as there is a lot more equipment than you think used....

Hi Tom thanks for your replay,

I don't know if Jim S. or D. Henning in some way where around this concept,

anyway I know for shure

that this concept and effect was also personalized from De kolta (he called it variable ....),

this mean this concept and effect was created before Dekolta

example ( the translucent .... use )

others performes also personalized this principle ( Dicksonn's glass lantern or Chin Ling Soo or also Abbott and more...)

I know also that in the Vaudeville era someone

performed exactly this illusion and exactly in that way as Lance did whit the Corvette car ,

so using the box and using exaclty that principle for the huge vanishing illusion ,

but who ,

who was the first using this combination

for the huge vanishing effect ?

before than the use of the Box exaclty the same effect was performed

on the empty stage ( also Siegfried and Roy perfomed this version on the empty stage using the same system ,

they used an horse for this version on the empty stage ,

but frankly in 2 different moments they used also the box version

whit an Indian Cow)

mine curiosity it's when the box was introduced and from who,

I don't see any information around this Illusion and concept ,

and it's strange looking on how is beauty this effect,

anyway ,

thanks for your help,

Fabrice

the problem is that this isn't "an effect" - there's several distinct different methods / ideas that have been combined; all with different origins.

The "escape" route hiding method used in this version of the effect i have seen written in an old Goldstone book in relation to the production of a woman on stage. It's the EXACT method but used in a different way. It could also be said that it's virtually the same method as Walter Jean's method for his most famous effect.

Stage illusions (like all magic) aren't ever created entirely by one person, they are always a combination of new ideas, old ideas and combinations of other designs.

I'll take a guess in saying that Henning was probably the first performer to commission this combination of exit route method and Elephant simply because it was only in the 60's that the technology was available to make the core components economically.

Hi Thomas thanks for your replay,

thanks all of you for your help,

anyway the point of my question it's

who originated that specific Optical illusion ? ( ceck the Lance Burton vanishing Corvette and you will understand what I mean ) ,

do you know where I can see some explanations on that Optical illusion ( books , magazines etc.etc.)

I don't need to know more so I'm not intersted on how do the vanish or way out etc.etc.,

thanks for your help,
Fabrice
